Bottled 37.5cl. Vintage 2005. 8.5 ABV. It pours a deep amber beer with a light beige head. The aroma is of plums, walnuts, dark chocolate, nutmeg, wood and apples. Sweet malty taste with notes of walnuts, almonds, dark chocolate, plums, wood and apples. Some algae sneaking in. Full bodied. There is a very pleasant port-like characteristic to this beer. Peppery. Outstanding malty finish with with hints of dark chocolate, plums and heather.

Ungstrup (26236) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - JAN 22, 2008
Bottled - vintage 2007, sampled January 2008. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet mlaty with primary notes of caramel, but also a light spicy touch and some over ripe fruits. The flavor is very sweet with notes of dusty hops, caramel, alcohol, fruit, and some nuts, leading to a dry spicy finish. The first time I had this I didn’t think much of it, but the second time I fancied it. Thanks Alex (fiulijn) for the trade many years ago.

Vintage 2004 Käppelijock Klosterbier 8.5% Bottle. [Great two day tasting session @ Papsoe] Average off-white bubbly head that mostly diminished. Muddy amber color. Fair display of lacework. Dried fruit, raisin, date, peach, apricot. Over the palate toasted malt, light citrus, smooth grainy feel and light alcoholic feel. Full bodied with a soft carbonation and somewhat thick texture. Moderated to heavy sweet with light bitter and acidic notes. Sweet raisin finish. Quit lovely and thanks to Alex for sharing with Ungstrup and the rest of the Copenhagen Crew.

Vintage 2004 bottle.
Pours muddy orange and a thick off-white head. Sweet malt and chocolate aroma. Tones of herb and cheese. Sweet flavor as well, malty and grainy with chocolate and orange in there as well and a dusty edge. Rather sharp and unbalanced and not really my kind of beer though I see its potential. Thanks Per!

Bottled, 2004 vintage, thanks Bov! Cloudy orange, off white creamy head. Citric almondy aroma. Sweet, thick and vinous. gernerously maltywith plenty of butterscotch. The alcohol shines through and adds pepperiness. Very flavourful, there’s also oranges, grass and licorice.

Vintage 2004, 8.5%
cloudy copper-brown colour, almost no foam, very herbal and spicy aroma, notes of prune and apple, very sweet, oily, medium to full-bodied, long sugary and fruity finish with a late warming alcohol touch - a good surprise from a very small microbrewery
