Test vom 12.12.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 14,12,13,13,15,13 - 13,05

Bügelverschlußflasche: Reddish-amber coloured, big rocky tanned head, sticking to the glass; distinctive caramelly and roast-malty nose, dry hoppy aroma with a hint of fruit; dry (malty-)bitter flavour, light bodied, soft MF; dark-malty, coffeeish-bitter finish. A very pleasant Landbier, aromatic and moreish.............

Bottle - GBBF 2005. A rich mahogany brown coloured beer with a slim tan head. The aroma is malty with caramel fudge toffee and alcohol. The taste is malty with some carachoc and some fruitiness. Reminds me a little of some English Old Ales.

(swing top bottle) Clear, dark amber colour with a fluffy beige foam. Hearty roast-malty aroma, slightly bready with caramel and a touch of dried fruits. Bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied with a pleasant carbonation. Roasty, malty taste with caramel and cacao; moderately dry, roasty and bitter finish with a lingering caramel/toffee-note. Aromatic, well-rounded brew.

chriso (7347) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 15, 2004
Bottled at GBBF 2004. It was interesting to try some rare (for the UK at least) Austrian beers, but this one was not really to my taste. Overwhelmingly malty in both aroma and flavour, with some woody notes and a touch of yeasty acidity. Not very crisp mouthfeel. Overall, I thought it rather dull and not very interesting.

bottled. more rotbraun than goldbraun. malty caramel aroma that is unusual for german beer. weird flavour - lots of fruit salad and cocoa powder then quite a dry finish. pretty complex, just not that nice

KyotoLefty (6352) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAR 22, 2010
Bottle in Vienna. Slightly sour, earthy aroma, good burnt malt taste, not sweet at all. Excellent, Czech style dark. Good roasted malt finish. Decent hops as well. An excellent dark beer, maybe the best in Austria. Doesn’t cloy like most of the others.

duff (5484) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - SEP 9, 2004
Bottle. Quite nice. Lightly sweet raisin and then dry toasted malt flavour, a bit doughy i suppose, quite a light palate, yet the flavour is quite full, lightly acidic mouthfeel, some wholegrain bread, pretty decent.
