Commercial Description:
The most refreshing beer in the world. Malted wheat and special yeast give Kapuziner Weissbier its light touch and distinctive taste - a yeasty tang offset by a solid malt body and a delightful tropical fruitiness. Unfiltered yeast lends a hazy, seductive look.

Bottle in Rome. Quite spicy aroma, some pepper. Full, almost heavy body. Bread, banana, lemon. Not that good, really. Not refreshing enough.

Hazy deep amber coloured body with a thinnish white head and a meaty texture. Aroma of strong wheat, yeast, bread, lemons and a bit of toffee and banana sweetness. Medium-bodied; Assertive acidic quality up front with citrus and yeast coming out most. Wheat dominates in the middle with some coriander seed and curacao freshness. Aftertaste is somewhat muted with wheat and a bit of sweetness near the end - the alcohol is hidden well. Overall, a good beer, not stellar, but definitely nice to try! I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased at German Gourmet in Falls Church, Virginia on 09-May-2009, sampled a day later at home in Washington.

Wheaty, yeasty and estery hefe, good for the summertime and not bad for the style. I approve of it.

500ml bottle $3. Very nice looking golden, cloudy color, served in a pilsener glass. The smell was cloves and bubblegum with extra yeastiness. The taste starts out very nice with a strong bubblegum component but then finishes with a buttered popcorn flavor that I do not care for at all (diacetyl?). bottle. cloudy yellow colour, large white head, fruity nose. Medium to full-bodied, malty-wheaty background with fruity flavours, banana mainly. Finishes with some citrusy hoppy flavours on top of the yeasty-wheaty flavours.

I’ve always seen Kapuziner beers on the shelves, but they’ve always came in those mini-keg’s and those are rarely bought. So while checking out the beers at BevMo, I see that they are now carrying the pint bottles so I bought all the styles they had on hand. In the mood for a nice hefe, this was the one I pulled out first.

The beer pours out a light golden color, slightly hazy with a huge 3 finger fluffy head which melted away to a scant 1/2 finger head. Aroma of cloves, a bit of bananas and lemongrass. Flavored carried strong citrusy notes, biscuity and bananas. Soft and velvety mouthfeel. The finish reminded me in ways of a cheap white wine. Just okay.
