Kapuziner Weissbier

I’ve always seen Kapuziner beers on the shelves, but they’ve always came in those mini-keg’s and those are rarely bought. So while checking out the beers at BevMo, I see that they are now carrying the pint bottles so I bought all the styles they had on hand. In the mood for a nice hefe, this was the one I pulled out first.

The beer pours out a light golden color, slightly hazy with a huge 3 finger fluffy head which melted away to a scant 1/2 finger head. Aroma of cloves, a bit of bananas and lemongrass. Flavored carried strong citrusy notes, biscuity and bananas. Soft and velvety mouthfeel. The finish reminded me in ways of a cheap white wine. Just okay.

Bottle. Pours clear orange with an average, rocky, white head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (grain, hay, straw, meal), light hops (grass), average yeast (sweat, earth) with notes of banana. Light bodied, slick texture, average carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

Slightly cloudy yellow with a thick two fingers of smooth white foam. Mostly light spice and wheat malt light lemon citrus and various light fruit esters. Taste is a nice citrus lemon, light spice and yeast note to finish. A very smooth wheat body.

Banana and wheat malt aroma with esters. Pours a hazy apricot color with minimal white head and some action. Nice wheat grain taste with butter and banana. Esters are well balanced within. Light bodied, resinous and buttery, with lively soft carbonation. Very good session beer would love to have this on tap.

Somewhat tamed for a German release. The flavors and aromas are there but seem stunted. This is my favorite beer style and even Im finding words for this description.

Poured an orangish haze with a foamy white head. Had some lacing. Pretty sour, shitty, unfiltered tasting swill.

Bottle. Big creamy head, quick dissipation. Hazy orange honey color. Smells bready, yeasty, bit citrusy. Hits with a lot of banana, bread, bit of caramel, spicy finish. Soft and luxurious at first but a bit astringent and stinging at the finish. German wheat through and through.

Mini growler from Half-Time. Pours a lightly hazy golden amber. Small creamy white head vanishes almost immediately. Sweet wheat with clove and banana on the nose. Very low carbonation in a somewhat thin mouthfeel with a light clean finish. Pretty solid overall, but a little lighter body wise than I would like.
