COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The most refreshing beer in the world. Malted wheat and special yeast give Kapuziner Weissbier its light touch and distinctive taste - a yeasty tang offset by a solid malt body and a delightful tropical fruitiness. Unfiltered yeast lends a hazy, seductive look.

Bottle. Poured an hazy orange color with an average frothy white head that mostly diminished with good lacing. Moderate sour citrus clove aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Medium sweet flavor with a medium spicy sweet finish of moderate duration. Drinkable beer.

Cloudy orange-gold with a large white head. Initially a rather vegetal aroma was followed by yeast, old leather and a salty seaside tang. Later some bubblegum emerged. Taste had sourness, cloves, some wheaty background and a late bitterness. Thought-provoking if not completely delicious.

UPDATED: OCT 11, 2006 Specimen no. 200, courtesy of the in-laws. Hastily chilled sample in the brewery’s novelty, world cup-shaped Weizen. Deep murky orange topped with fine white foam. Plenty of spicy, piney dryness, perfumey banana and sour wheat in the nose. Smoothly milky mouthfeel. Flavour oddly stale and grainy at first, but plenty enough fruit (banana, peach?) ,tangy wheat, and strange dryness emerging to keep me raising the vase. A woodily boozy, almost smoky rum note also, unusual for a Hefe. That graininess reminds me of Etalon. A dry, complex and difficult-to-describe example of the style.

Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow gold with a very nice white head. Nose is wheaty and banana. This continues into the flavor. A nice balance between the sweet and sour characters. This was a good hefeweizen although I think it was slightly thin.

Pours hazy straw into the glass, with a big frothy head that leaves light webbed lacing. The nose is of banana and yeast. This transfers into the flavor in much the same fashion. The carb levels are a bit high, with the mouthfeel a shade thinner than normal (or maybe not... I’m riding the fence on this). Not bad at all... missing the clove finish that makes a truly indicative master hefe.

good, but it was a shame there was not enough means to get it cold. It was drinkable and very good bubbling.

Bottle (500ml). In my Erdinger hefe glass. Cloudy orange, large lasting off-white foamy head. Aroma of malt, grain and banana, but there’s an oil-based paint tang there that isnt’ quite right, somewhat sour too. Taste is similar - not bad, an odd grassy note for a hefe. Average mouthfeel, grainy, even a hint of astringency. Ehh.
