Guinnessman (88), VACAVILLE, California, USA Sep 21, 2008 Good head. Poured nicely. Had this with a nice chunk of smoked gouda. Not as great as Hopf or Erdinger, but I’ll definitely buy this one again. ska (125), Italy Sep 13, 2008 50cl bottle, hazy orange colour, foamy white head, wheat, yeast and banana aroma, yeast sweet flavor, light bitter finish with citrus and alcohol notes Muggus69 (500), Sydney, Australia Sep 11, 2008 Weizen poured fresh from 5L keg. Hazy orange-gold body, big creamy head leaving sparce lace. Bready malt on the nose with a fair bit of spice and dicernable banana and pineapple fruitiness. Creamy mouthfilling body, lively carbonation, quite a chewy texture with a hint of acidity about it. Fruity body; citrus, ripe banana, hints of tropical fruit as it warms, sweet breadiness with clove and pepper on a satisfying finish. Well made hefeweizen for sure; makes me glad I have a whole keg in my fridge! yesyouam (587), Fairport, New York, USA Sep 7, 2008 Kapuziner Weissbier is a very cloudy, sparkling, pale yellow beer with a thick, foamy, white head. It has a muted aroma of banana bread and lemon pepper. It is light bodied, fluffy and very crisp with a dry finish. The flavor is nice: lemon, banana bread and fruity wheat. It has a boozy lemon pepper finish. This is a good, solid hefeweizen. JuStuka (187), Edo De Mex, Mexico Sep 2, 2008 Pours a hazy yellow color, aroma has abit of banana and yeast, flavor is banana and lemon. mjs (1446), Helsinki, Finland Aug 29, 2008 (Bottle) Orange. Cloudy. Dense medium sized head. Banana aromas in fruity nose. Lot of carbonation in medium palate. Banana, bitterness, some salty liquorice and bitterness in taste. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Aug 19, 2008 02-Apr-07 (500-ml bottle: Purchased 10-Jan-07 for $2.79 at Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido, CA) This is a relatively average imported German Hefeweizen, which means it’s still a pretty good beer. Moderately sweet, with plenty of semi-ripe banana, but not spicy at all. The wheat base takes on strong bready notes, especially as the beer warms up. Banana bread aroma affirms the perceived flavor. Medium-bodied, but the beer gets a bit heavy and stale on the palate over time, despite the moderate carbonation. Hazy, golden-amber in color, but not fully cloudy like many other examples of the style. Fluffy, off-white head on the pour settles to a ring. Decent, but more enjoyable when cold because the banana is more prominent than the breadiness. BeerGestapo (725), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 18, 2008 (GERMANY) Pours a hazy yellow color with a small white head. The aroma has a clove, grain, and some lite fruity notes. The taste is kind of spicy with a hint of wheat and banana. The mouthfeel is spritzy and quiet refreshing !!! My only problem is the taste falls a bit short.
