The most refreshing beer in the world. Malted wheat and special yeast give Kapuziner Weissbier its light touch and distinctive taste - a yeasty tang offset by a solid malt body and a delightful tropical fruitiness. Unfiltered yeast lends a hazy, seductive look.

16 oz. grolsch style flip top bottle. Aroma is typical of a good hefeweizen - bananas and cloves. Very drinkable - reminds me of another very good hefeweizen - Weihenstephaner.

September 2016 - 500ml swing top, picked up in Berlin. As ’Kulmbacher Kapuziner Weissbier’, nice old school label, 5.4%, BB May 2017. Opened with a huge pop. Dirty orange, hazy, cloudy, foamy cratered white head. Aroma is a touch farty and dirty, wet wood, some clove. Body is quite smooth albeit a touch foamy, soft carbonation. Taste has a lot of popcorn up front, biscuity, pastries, some green raisin. Something quite ’wholesome’ about this. Could drink a lot, and would do so happily enough. (3.4)

Gesamt: Durchschnittliches Weizen.

UPDATED: AUG 26, 2016 Pours a dark cloudy amber gold with frothy head. Aroma: bread, sourdough, fresh grains, light banana, very light citrus. Taste: follows aroma but despite grain components (fresh grains, sourdough, hay) it is refreshing and very drinkable. Faint fruity elements, mostly banana, orange peel. Grain components return in finish, accompanied by a gentle maltiness and lingering malty bitterness. Not bad.

Frisch vom Fass in Meissen getrunken. Trübe mit weißem Schaum im Glas. In der Nase das Hefearoma. Im Geschmack sehr nach Banane erinnernd.

500ml can from Bon Repas. Pours a cloudy orange-gold, nice finger of creamy white foam. Candy banana aroma, fruit roll cake, clove. Flavour and feel let it down a bit, spritzy mineral water feel pulls through notes of wheat, banana, citrus. Too biting and thin for a weiss, needs to be creamier. Passable cheap option, but many locals do it better, not to mention better Bavarian imports.
