3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at home, courtesy of Eric. Thanks man! Pour is pitch black with a huge brown head and great lacing. Big fig, raisins, dark cherries, cocoa, maple syrup, bourbon, light vanilla, and roasty aroma. Taste is bread, coconut, roasted malt, cocoa, a hint of vanilla, plums, light bourbon, and burnt caramel. Slick mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Damn decent BA porter.

3.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a dark, dark brown with a dark tan head. Aroma is vanilla, oak, chocolate, roasted malts... just overall delicious. The taste, however... is dominated by alcohol. Not my thing. It’s really a shame, because this beer was so promising.

Growler labeled 007. A bit over-carbed. So much barrel: bourbon-filled nose, stout is in the background as barrel takes the spotlight. I prefer barrels to accent the base, but to each his own.

Got in a trade with icetrauma. 22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; No. 005, bottled in May 2013. Pours dense pitch black color with a 2 finger dense dark tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa, brown sugar, toast, vanilla, toffee, clove, oak, bourbon, light char, light coffee, and roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt and barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa, light char, toast, vanilla, toffee, brown sugar, clove, oak, bourbon, light coffee, and roasted earthiness. Light roast/barrel bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa, toast, toffee, vanilla, clove, oak, brown sugar, light char, light coffee, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity of dark/roasted malt and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great malt/barrel flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very creamy and moderately slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent barrel aged porter! All around great complexity and balance of dark/roasted malt and barrel flavors; and quite smooth to sip on for the high ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Location: 22 oz bottle from BRC Gastropub, 12/11/13, as 007 Bourbon Barrel Hellfighter
Aroma: The nose is bourbony and a little sweet, roasted malts, coffee! and plenty of smoke
Appearance: It pours a dark brown-black color with a frothy brown head and heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is more roasty and smokey then sweet, bourbony, with a fairly bitter close
Palate: Has a medium body (feels light in this style), soft carbonation, and a little heat
Very new example of the style. I enjoyed this beer. It is pretty darn easy to drink with this level of booziness and ABV. It doesn’t feel 10+% at all. I’d love to cellar one, I think this would age well.
I’m not sure this is a Connery level 007, but it’s certainly leaps and bounds above a Dalton!

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
This is the best porter that i have ever tried, the only other porter that comes close in my opinion is the 512 Bourbon Barrel Pecan Porter. The beer has strong hints of a fine bourbon, hints of chocolate, and has a smoky aroma. Try this while it is available you will be pleased.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Firkin Houston- pours jet black with a nice brownish red foamy head. Aroma is distinguished...warm and sweet, like being by a fireplace. Hints of bourbon, coffee, chocolate, licorice. First sip you notice the alcohol, but quickly fades from palate. Got that stouty aftertaste. Good.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black wine. Beige head. Jeez alcohol bomb. Rich caramlized malts with lots of alcohol taste. Of course the beer is black with a decaying tan head. It tastes good now and hurts bad later.

Bottle says 005. Pours black with copper head. Aroma of some chocolate & licorice with woody bourbon. Flavor much the same but seems a bit too hot. Heavy mouth feel with low carbonation. Overall, not bad.
