651mL thanks to t0rin0 or someone in the LA crew. Pours clear dark amber. Not a lot of retention. Nose is cheesy, dusty, not so fresh. Taste is nutty, overly bitter, Brazil nut, dusty and stale. Palate is dusty, harsh. No thanks.

Aroma of a candy shop set afire...sweet and smokey. Pure darkness poured. Pleasing and citrus crisp initially with a lingering feeling that the hops are staring at you from some shadowy corner. Go ahead and stare! This beer is worth drinking no matter how sinister your company... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pretty, dark beer with a playful fluffy head. Aroma is subtle but hoppy. Sweet and smoky with a lot of hop bitterness. Very good beer but sweeter than I prefer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark brown in color with an almost yellowish white head, this is mostly an opaque beer. Its aroma is a nice combination of slight hops atop a thick, slightly roasted malts. There’s a definite dark caramel malt presence... quite the nice nose! Its flavor is bitter and roasted, with hops taking a back seat, but its bitterness joins forces with the roast bitterness in the finish for a little bite. Nice!

Tap at the Hay Merchant, Houston, 21/05/13. Mid black with a good sized light tan head. Nose is juicy jammy hops, pine, cocoa dusting, blackcurrant, grapefruit. Taste comprises hop, pine bite, bitter grapefruit, light mineral notes, touch of roast. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, hoppy bite in a dryish finish. A great Black IPA !

Bottle, 5/26/2013. Pours deep brown, nearly black, light tan head fades to creamy layer on the surface, thick sticky lacing. Aroma has chocolate and dark roast up front, bright resinous piney hops with lighter citrus notes on top, touch of caramel. Taste has tangerine and grapefruit, piney bitterness in the middle, dark roast and slight coffee lingering in the aftertaste. Medium palate, not too sticky and quite drinkable. Nice black IPA.

Hoppy on the nose, but still sweet. Creamy thick head after the pour, then thin and silky till the end. The sweet IPA flavor up front with small hints of roastiness on the finish. Very good beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma: Nice hops with a touch of cereal or maple syrup type notes it smells a touch sweeter than their Hopadillo. Appearance: Deep black with amber tinges when held to light nice doughnut colored head that is substantial in size and how long it last. Palate: Average, somewhat thick Taste: Nice huge hops into a far sweeter finish than you would expect. Overall: If you like Hopadillo you will lie this one it is very similar but has a deeper profile in both Hops and sweetness.
