Copper in color with ruby highlights, this Texas IPA has a strong citrus aroma with hints of earthiness and spice from the added European hops. Light berry fruits are perceived before giving way to citrusy hop character. Dry and quenching, this IPA is dry-hopped for added aromatic intensity.

Tap at The Ginger Man in Austin with commonshawn. Very appealing deep orange color with a beautiful full finger of head. Slight cloudiness. Aroma of hops and tropical citrus fruit with a sweetness that is seriously enjoyable. Taste also has an undercurrent of citrus resin sweetness that blends well with the bite of the hops. Oily mouthfeel. Aftertaste is mostly bitter from the hops but itís relatively clean finish. Very solid beer...almost a double IPA.

Can packaged on February 24, 2015 brought back from San Antonio somewhere. This is a pretty clear amber color with a white head. Itís on the darker end of the IPA spectrum, more like an east coast IPA in appearance. I canít help but notice all the trash talk of bitterness and huge hop aroma on the can. Well, where is it? Sure some of that is gonna fade, but this beer is only 47 days old. It should still have some punch to it. The aroma is sweet with notes of grass clippings, pine, berries and soil. Palate is pretty dense and a little sticky. I canít help but notice the generous caramel malt character. There is nothing at all unenjoyable in the way of flavor, but it is underwhelming for an American made IPA. There is a sturdy, sweet malt base with a balanced hop flavor adding mostly pine and earth. This is reasonable take on an English style IPA, but given my upbringing I much prefer American IPAs. Karbach might be more honest describing this beer as a balanced and full-flavored, old school IPA than trying to talk up the supposed "hopadillo" onslaught. Iíd also like to note that this beer is scored a 90 while so many vibrant and in vogue Denver IPAs are scored in the 70s to low 80s. Itís interesting to see the different scenes on this site.

Can. Amber color with tan head. Aroma of citrus and pine. Taste the hops in this one for sure, a little on the bitter side, but not to bad that I wasnít able to drink 3 in a a row while visiting my daughter in Texas where its made. Not bad, but there are better IPAs out there.

Subdued aroma of citrus and hops. Pours a good looking caramel color with a lasting white head, lightly carbonated. Light taste of hops with a bitter finish.

Juicy citrus fruit, pine, floral hopping on nose and palate. Finishes nicely with sweet malt lingering. Earthy Euro hops not apparent until the brew warms a bit, changing the character of the flavor as the glass goes down. Warming unfortunately also reveals a slight edgy bittering note, slightly acrid, but this is the only flaw I can find in the tasty, balanced brew. Nothing crazy or outside the box here, but a solid American IPA that I could happily drink over and over.
