COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Copper in color with ruby highlights, this Texas IPA has a strong citrus aroma with hints of earthiness and spice from the added European hops. Light berry fruits are perceived before giving way to citrusy hop character. Dry and quenching, this IPA is dry-hopped for added aromatic intensity.

Can to glass. Pours a hazy dark amber color. Aroma is light piney hops with grass notes. Taste is again piney hops, with moderate bitterness. Again grass presence with some resin. Some malts Reminds me of a west coast style IPA. Palate is thin, lightly carbonated. Ok offering overall.

I mean, if you live in Houston and like IPAs....then you probably annihilate Hopadillos on a regular basis. This local beer is a Torpedo-eqsue Cali-style IPA that has the volume turned up a little bit. This is probably between an IPA and DIPA as the alcohol and taste are considerably more than your typical IPA. This beer has a mild malt nose that leads to an astringent hoppy finish and a slight alcohol note. Nothing about this beer is exceptional, but the total package in terms of aggressiveness and lack of defects leads to a pretty solid recommendation. The primary defect of this beer is the overly sugary mouthfeel and the somewhat narrow palate as the hop profile is fairly narrow. This is definitely in the running for one of the best Texas brewed IPAs.

On tap at Hay Merchant Houston. Super frothy head, nice grapefruit aroma, as well as other citrus and floral notes. A great IPA.

Citrus, pine, and floral aroma. Pours a dark, cloudy amber with a nice head that dissipates to a spotty head. Nice lacing. Heavy bitterness, but it doesn’t mask the malt, which comes through on the back end. Perfect carbonation, and a nice sticky mouthfeel. One of my favorite IPA’s!

Canned: unk hazy tea colored ale with a etched surface of light caramel foam and noticeable legs. Smells of resin, bitterness, dry biscuit malts, some tea and a little oxidation. Flavor is slightly bitter, mostly crystal, oxidized malts, some over steeped tea. Medium on full bodied with moderate carb and a semi dry finish. Not a very good beer.

Pours dark amber with three fingers of white frothy head. This beer has citrus notes in the aroma and taste. The hop bitterness is just right. This is a super solid IPA. Obviously we dont get this in Georgia. My brother brought it up as a Christmas present from our home town of Houston. Keep up the good work Karbach!

Tap. Clear copper with a nice beige head. Aroma of citrus, caramel, bread and grass. Taste is malty and a little fruity with a mild bitterness. Medium body. Pretty smooth. Not a great ipa but definitely average or better and enjoyable.

Location: Draft at BRC Gastropub, 12/4/13

Aroma: The nose is full of resiny hop goodness, pine, citrus, and some caramel malts too
Appearance: It pours a hazed dark orange color with a thick, frothy off-white head
Flavor: Tastes plenty of hoopy as well, not super bitter, but nice bitterness, with mild sweetness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a smooth, clean feel, soft carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was excellent. I’m a fan of the base beer, but the double dry hopping may have made it even better, particularly in the nose. The aroma is very hoppy and really just wonderful. Nothing bad to say here.
Earlier Rating: 7/22/2013 Total Score: 3.8
Location: Draft a couple of times around Houston, June/July 2013

Aroma: The nose is citrus and pine, some grass, caramel, and resin as well
Appearance: It pours an amber-orange color with a frothy head and decent lace
Flavor: Tastes much like the nose, some medium-plus bitterness and some sweetness
Palate: The body is medium, it is a little sticky, with a solid mouthfeel
Overall Impression: I thought this was a pretty solid IPA. It seems to be the go to IPA on draft at quite a few local restaurants, and I am just fine with that.
