COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Itís a job. And a hazardous one at that. Benefits, you ask? I hardly think so. But the show must go on. So, itís with bravado that the Rodeo Clown takes his place in the arena lights. Whether or not heís insane is not important right now. Itís with grit and intensity that the Clown steps in the path of almost certain destruction. Our Double IPA is much the same. At 9.5% ABV, Rodeo Clown Double IPA coats the tongue in bitterness and packs a punch that will knock a bull on its ass . Intense and maybe a little insane drink carefully, but drink often. Ladies and Gentlemen, let the show begin.

Dark brown/red pour. Thick tan head with great lacing. Way too bitter and boozy for my liking.

Draft at twin peaks. I wish I could insert a picture here, there are huge tits everywhere. Pours dark bronze. Aroma is earthy hop resin; thick, can tell the beer has a kick. Taste is spicy hops, some earthy notes, bitterness balancing the alcohol for a big full flavor. I wouldnít want to beer bong this shit. Finish is kinda neutral with some alcohol coming through.

Pours a dark amber color with white head. Pine, citrus, and floral notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Drinks very smooth for a DIPA. Lots of hops on this one.

Dark hazy amber with lacing off white head. Not a strong aroma. Caramel and hops in the flavor. Good. Comes in a can??? ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

from tap, hazy orangish amber color with a little less than 2 finger off-white head, lots of lacing. Aroma is citrus and floral hops. Flavor is sweet malts and citrus hops with some spice, and a somewhat bitter finish.

Double IPA, good taste, high alcohol value, a bit malt but not too much, a nice local brew in a can ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The aroma is soft and sensual. It is comparable to walking in a floral chiller at a boutique flower shop. Out of a can, it pours a golden haze with a mild head. In contrast the taste is stark while it massages your tongue. The bitter sweetness found in DIPAís is in full effect here. I think the gigher than average abv plays well with the amount of sweetness allowing for a surprisingly pleasant drinking experience. This clown is no joke and you wont be able to taste much after drinking this thing, so bring your palate with you if you want to last more than 8 seconds. Overall this is one of my favorites because I love hops and a high abv. More than that, this brew did all of those without being harsh or unrefined.

Murky brown. Off-white lacing head. All those new American hops make it stink to high heaven. It has a very malty backbone thatís all torn up with ob sessive hopping.

Draft at Flying Saucer San Antonio. Hazy to cloudy golden amber color, thick tan head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of freshly baked brown bread. Taste is yeasty, slightly fruity, spiced and bitter. Nice stuff.

Bottle - Caramel, spice and orange. Clear amber with a rich beige head. Lots of caramel with a mild hop presence that is almost not there. This come across more like an English Barleywine. I still like it, just not what I expected.

I do have to admit that the can reminds me a little of a court jester. This high-alcohol double IPA has a very healthy head. Itís bold in color, reddish orange, and looks dense. There is some matter in suspension, and light carbonation. The nose is a little dirty, with moderate to heavy caramelized malts and a touch of burnt sugar. It almost smells like smoke. Iím not sure if itís supposed to or if thatís the scent of my neighborís grill. Itís mostly thin in flavor, but pretty bitter, soft in the mouth, and mostly lacking in hop flavor. The hop flavor is pronounced, but too simple and doesnít compliment the soft body very well. Given more depth and slightly less bitterness this could be a really classy beer. Everything, including the sweetness, really seems disjoined from every other part. It tastes better than Iíve made it sound, though. A little. Itís still pretty drinkable, and the bitterness subsides quickly, allowing for more cohesiveness. Itís brighter and bolder than a standard IPA, but only ever so slightly as to keep it a somewhat sessionable double IPA. Although a little harsh, you really canít tell that itís so high in alcohol.
