Got this in a trade with icetrauma, thanks man. 22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but was bottled recently. Pours fairly clear extremely dark reddish brown color with a nice 2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big caramel, chocolate, toffee, raisin, fig, toast, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, brown sugar, dark bread, light roast, and light herbal. Excellent aromas with great complexity, strength, and balance of malt/spice notes; very inviting. Taste of caramel, chocolate, toffee, raisin, fig, toast, dark bread, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, brown sugar, light roast, and herbal. Light spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, chocolate, dark fruit, toast, toffee, dark bread, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, light roast, and herbal on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice flavor balance, complexity, and robustness; with a great malt/spice balance; and minimal cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy and fairly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent winter warmer style! Great balance and robustness of flavors and spices; and extremely smooth to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.

Bottle, reviewed from notes, tasted 12/24/2012. Dark muddy brown pour, creamy tan head. Aroma of vanilla, milk chocolate, cinnamon and holiday spices, moderate sweetness. Taste is cinnamon, nutmeg, earthy spices, roasted malts with light chocolate notes, mild bitterness. Medium thick palate, easy to drink. Decent, straightforward holiday brew.

Brown in color with a khaki head. Subtle banana on the nose along with the expected nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, ginger, and allspice notes. Hints of chocolate, toasted bread, and light roasted malt character. Nice spiciness to the flavor, too. Semi-sweet malt character. Molasses, toast, chocolate, and light roast. A hint of fruit, particularly banana, and a touch of chalk.
3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 onceblind (2642) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 27, 2012
Clear black with a thin beiege foamy head that doesnt last long. The aroma is phenominal and is exactly what one looks for in a winter warmer, in that it smells like a cookie. Nose of cocoa and cinnamon and dark creamy cake. However the flavor is not very cookie-like, and turns out to be kinda bitter. Taste starts kinda dark and earthy but quicly gets a lot of cocoa nibb-bitterness and herbal spiciness, with ginger and cinnamon quickly following. Kinda sweet but with a strong bitterness that cuts through all that kinda like an IPA, but not very hoppy. And full of cabinet spice flavors as well, like nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, and orange peel. Weird, but I dug it..

Pours a murky amber-brown with nice tan-off-white head. Aroma is fresh, spiced, caramel, and bread crust. Spicey and balanced taste with roasted edges. The is a perfect holiday beer to me, really captures flavors that go with the season.
