Ah, the sudden Texas change from Summer to Winter. This might possibly be our favorite time of year. Pull on your hoodie and head to your local pub for something warming. This, our Winter seasonal, is a black ale spiced generously with cocoa nibs, orange peel, ginger, cardamom, allspice, nutmeg, and cinnamon. It truly is the holidays in a glass.
Medium bodied, this brew delivers a surprising amount of dark chocolate bitterness while the spices dance on your tongue providing a complex array of winter flavors. 8% ABV, please drink responsibly. Otherwise you might shoot your eye out!
Malts: Pale Vienna, Munich, Chocolate, Carafa, Crystal
Hops: Spalt, Hallertauer, Saphir
Extras: Ginger, Cocoa Nibs, Orange Peel, Cardamom, Allspice, Nutmeg, Cinnamon

22 oz. Bottle from Jamil and the great Republic of Texas! Overall, a great Christmas stouty brew, but a bit thin. Cinnamon scent, nutmeg of medium strength. Black our with a white ring. Light body with a silky texture. Cinnamon flavor, nutmeg, with a bit of a dark chocolate finish.

Bottle. Murky mahogany. Heavy all spice and cinnamon aroma. Same notes in flavor. A little to heavy on the spice for me.

Spices??? Plural? Or one. Lots of all spice in flavor and aroma. Otherwise an attractive dark brown leathery color.

Very dark cherry pour. Medium to thick light brown head. Robust malt aroma with spice and fruit notes. Medium to heavy body. Medium amount of carbonation. Taste starts with specialty malt sweetness and finishes with tart fruitiness.

Good seasonal ale. Dark, espresso hue. Soft ,lacy head. Sugary notes. A bit spicy. Smooth washdown. Seems like it needs to hike up on the abv level. A pretty basic ale. Typically fall/winters need an extra kick that separates one brew from another. Yule needs to integrate something smokey or perhaps using more distinct spices to play on sweet and bitter flavors. Good but not great. Buy it. Say you did buy then keep shopping around for a better Christmas Ale.

Smells of light citrus and heavy cocoa with mixed spice. Pours a dark thick brown with thick tan head. Lazy carbonation. Taste of chocolate and orange. Leaves pallet dry and bitterweet.
