2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Double sample flight@source during FMG delegation visit 5ix13. Lager-like ale in its golden graininess, subservient household hops and cereal malts. To a German-educated palate, lacking some crispness to session all night.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at the brewpub. This is a crisp, bright lager beer, heavy on the biscuit and malt characteristics, exceptionally clean. Sessionable indeed (#5105, 7/2/2013)

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the brewery from awhile back with Matt, taking a look at his rating I remember having the conversation with the server about this beer, I’m glad to see it ended up being listed as a Mild Ale. Pours a clear golden amber with a really thin head, the aroma is crisp of grass and just a little bit of sweet malt, the flavor has a little bit of fruit on the front end with a light finish, not bad.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On draught at the Karben4 taproom north of Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a clear golden pale light amber colored brew with a fast dissipating off-white head that leaves behind some spotty lacing and a thin white ring. Aroma of multi-golden grain malts, a hint of English caramel malt, some mild floral hops and a touch of toffee. Taste is medium bodied, some medium English caramel malts, a hint of floral hops and a touch of toffee. Finish is semi-sweet, some lingering malt and floral hop aftertaste. A touch heavier than most English-style mild ales, but still sessionable.

On tap at Karben4 Brewery. Clear and lifeless amber with a minimal head. Aroma is mild with faint caramel, malt and not a lot else. Taste is mild as well with caramel, malt, a touch of fruit and finishes up on the sweeter side.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at the brewpub - Sampled this one with cbfobes, who helped me talk up the brewer and ask him some questions about this beer. When I asked him what style it was, he said "session ale". When I told him it tasted a lot like a mild to me, he said he didn’t really like to conform to certain styles, and preferred to call this beer a session ale instead. Fair enough. It tasted like a mild, so I’m going to enter it as a mild until someone says differently. Anyways, it pours light amber with next to no head. Light bread notes on the nose, with a little caramel sweetness, a touch of yeast, and really not hop presence to speak of. Taste is the same--real mellow bread and caramel, a bit of mineral, and toffee notes. Kind of thin and a bit watery at times. Slick in the mouth, with little carbonation. Could drink tons of this, but it’s not the most interesting thing around. Good gateway beer for macro drinkers, which is the brewer’s intent.
