3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at GBBF 2013. Looks pretty awful to be honest, bit like some rye bread that has been put in a blender with water, or maybe a muddy canal. Fortunately tastes a lot better, classic well made dunkelweizen, good malty flavours added to some weizen clove and apple. Was there a hint of sourness or was I still on the rye bread analogy? Sometimes dunkelweizens come out disappointingly bland - this one didn’t.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap at GBBF, thanks to Fergus. It pours milky brown with a small white head. The nose is earthy, smokiness, milky, wood and smoke. The taste is smooth, sweet, oily, smoky, ham, orange, earth and decent bitterness with a dry, earthy funsh. Medium body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the Battersea Beer Festival (Feb ’12).
It harldy looks fit for drinking! Murky/cloudy yellow/brown like a cross between dirty canal water and a banana smoothie! Frothy tan head and a decent one at that. Good aroma’s come off this beer, all the usual suspects for the style, banana, clove, maybe something sweet in there too, vanilla/cream/caramel?
Top notch in the tasting department, toffee, caramel, banana, clove, a little yeast and a bit more ’nana for good measure.
Mouthfeel also top notch, rich, creamy, massages the throat as it goes down, fairly low carbonation.
Overall I really enjoyed this beer.

Dark cloudy brown but surprisingly fresh. Bit watery but a good balance of sweetness and bitterness.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
It’s unclear dark brown with a huge, creamy head. The aroma has notes of yeast, caramel, wheat and a touch of fruit! The flavor has notes of yeast, caramel, roasted malt, wheat and fruit. The finish is slightly spicy. A nice dunkles weisse.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Strong toffee and malt presence upfront with this one along with some lighter caramel and clove notes. There is also some banana on the nose but this is more subdued than the other aromas.
Dark red to copper cloudy beer with a light brown head with a bubbly texture. There is also a fair bit of sediment in the glass after the pour.
Toffee and caramel, blended with some strong malts and roasted sugar notes. I could detect some clove and spices with a little banana but not a lot.
Smooth and medium bodied with a sweet, dry finish and good spicy notes throughout.
I found this one to be a nice dunkelweizen without being all that great or memorable. Not a bad beer by any means and the mix of banana, cloves and the malts was a good one and together with the nice wheat aftertaste I don’t have too many complaints to make about this beer.
