3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Commissioned beer (like everything that comes out of this brewery) refermented with Brett. Yellowish head, dark amber colour tending towards copper, hazy. Aroma of apple, lychee, unripe peach, jute, sour cream, walnuts, old sherry and a bit of ’barnyard’. Estery fruity but in a restrained kind of way, sour apple, sour cream-like lactic acidity, grapefruit, nutty middle phase, dry hoppy finish, long, bit funky and ’wild’ but less so than I expected (and hoped). I don’t know the commissioner of this beer but I bet he’s into Orval big time - yet this, though well-made, clearly doesn’t survive the comparison with such a monument.

Bof bof, rien de spécial. Pas beaucoup de corps, beaucoup de mousse.
C’est surement un avis personnel, donc moi je n’ai pas trop aimé.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle (330 ml). Shared by Simon from la Cave à Bulles at the 1st RBFG, thanks! Hazy amber/copper with a small off-white head and little lacing. Aroma is of caramel, wood, light brettanomyces and buttery notes. Taste is slightly sweet with wood, caramel, brettanomyces, buttery notes and light bitterness. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Sticky finish. Not bad, but this beer lack of personality. Too much caramel, not enough sourness, lack of barrel character...

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Copper body and small stable lace. Red fruit, fermenting, pe, and light red wine vinegar. Taste isn’t as rich as I hoped, dry, not very refined... Disappointing. (Bottle from Simon shared at the 1FRBG bottle share)

Said to be the newest Orval - clone . Pours dark amber , quite clear . Big white head , less stable than the real orval though .
Smell has brett, but is sharper .
too high carbonation ( both for my taste and for the clone-idea )
Sharp brett, bread-maltyness . quite alright . Mouthfeel is very thin though .. Not my favourite Orval clone, and orval isnt even a personal favourite ...
