0.5l bottle Good caramel hops mead, kvass aroma. Good little smoky caramel and tofee taste, but it is too watery. Taste run for a moment, sadly. This beer must be stronger flavors. Cant enjoy it on the winter. Seems it is not real Porter, but color refers to.

0.5 l bottle, thanks hanniku! Dark reddish brown color. Sweet caramelly and bready aroma. Sweet bready and caramelly taste with dark rye bread, molasses and some warming alcohol. Smooth palate with low carbonation. Very bready and caramelly, not bad but more like a beer with food.

Dark amber color, medium beige head. Aroma of caramel, malt, toffee, light floral and spicy notes. Sweet taste has caramel, roasted malt, grain, light hops in mildly bitter finish. Thin to medium body, average carbonation. Not really a porter, but quite decent dark lager, only slightly different from Karksi Tume Eripruul.

Thanks to the courtesy of the great Jinroh, I get to try a bottle of this classic, which I find rather exciting. I say classic because there is a history to this brand and product, although the ratings already tell me the product has been desecrated by A le Coq. To start with, the beer is dark amber. This Estonian porter perhaps gives us one of the most appropriate instances to use the word "amber" for a beer, if not for the colour, at least from the geographical point-of-view. Itís very much like a clear dunkel. The head is off-white, rather bubbly, but still leaving decent lacing. Aromas of caramel, molasses, sweet dates. Very big bada boom sweet, but still not cloying. Flavour is almost the same. Karamalz, karo, honey, dark bread, dates and prunes. There is a subdued bitterness that accompanies some astringency at the finish. The mouthfeel is quite light. Although it is one of those baltic porters that completely digress from the objective, I found it very much like a nice Dunkel, certainly not abominable as some of the ratings indicated.

0,5L bottle, BB 10.10.14. Pours dark brown with light tan head. The small head stays. Aroma is faint sweet, sour, roast and metallic notes. Taste is sweet, caramel, roast, watery, some burnt sugar bitterness, some hops, and alcohol. Overall: not awful, ok example of dunkel.

500 ml bottle. BB 10/10/14. (Rimi) Pärnu, Estonia. Dark reddish brown colour with a light tan foamy head. The aroma is bread malt, sweetness, brown sugar, mild medicine notes and more sweetness. The flavour is roasted malt, medicine, brown sugar and sweetness. Thin and sweet. Quite bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle from Tallinn, dark brown colour, medium mostly vanishing frothy off-white head, very little lacing. Moderate somewhat roasty and bready malts with a hint of plums, light resiny and peppery hops. Taste is initially mildly sweet and sour and a bit acidic, turning intoa moderately bitter short finish with a moderately alcoholic feel. Thin to medium body, oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Not very enjoyable, surprisingly little taste if itís supposed to be a porter as the alcohol was quite noticeable and it rarely is with decent porters that are significantly stronger. Not undrinkable but not very enjoyable.

500 ml bottle. Pours quite clear brown with a dissipating bubbly head. Aroma is malty, sweet with some toffee, quite light. At least it doesnít smell as wet cardboard. Taste is quite light but itís there. Carbonation cleans your palate, some malty caramel giving way to a longer bitterness. Some roast in the taste. I can still understand this beer has been brewed in Karksi - it does have this distinctive watery malt character - but it could be one of my favourites from there.

Not my cup of tea despite drinking it with the first snow falling from the sky ... Pours dark red with a nice beige head which lasts for 5 minutes, then itís gone. In aroma - a little bit sour, maybe some hints of steel and also some caramel. Taste - first a little bit sweet-sour, middle has some hops and aftertaste is oily burnt sugar taste.

Bottled 500ml Peta1 Deep ruby color, good steady brownish head. Aroma of metal, caramel and cellar. Light-bodied. Light caramel, earth, light sweetish licorice in the flavor. Lame, no substance at all.
