4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
hazy darkish amber with a foamy near beige head. Aromas of dark fruit, treacle and maybe bourbon/vanilla. Med body. Flavor is dark fruit, treacledark fruits, toffee and a bit of root-beer. The palate is somewhat uneven starting thin and building to a thick and pasty conclusion. The carbonation is lively and the alcohol is well hidden. Finishes very long and dry with a lingering aftertaste of bourbon and anise. Overall: Crazy good brew, fans of bourbon barrel aged beers will want to try this one.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from FBW 2014. Shared at BA tasting. Pours a clear copper brown color. No real head. Aromas of vanilla and dark fruits. Batrel isn’t overpowering. Taste is sweet with a hint of booze heat.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From notes. Tasted some time near the summer of 2012 from a capped 650mL bomber bottle. Pours clear orange/amber with an average beige head that slowly recedes to thin lace. The nose is malty caramel with tons of vanilla and maple oak. The flavor is even maltier, huge, with the same vanilla and maple from the nose. The body is syrup full with medium minus carbonation and a long malty and bourbon finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
640 ML bomber
Light brown sugar color, persistent white head that settles to a collar through drinking. Sticky ABV legs.
Nose is bourbon, oak, vanilla, toffee, burnt brown sugar, dark fruits and figs. Nice array for the nose. A little more towards the brown sugar, and toffee but quite nice.
Taste is in line with the nose but add in some coconut and pretty much dialled in. A little thin in the taste and quite barrel forward.
Sweet and sticky feel. More brown sugar, toffee and coconut in the feel. Quite slick. Medium bodied and well hidden ABV.
Nice beer that will continue to develop more

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Hazy dark copper pour with a red hue and a light tan head. Bourbon, light vanilla, and dense, sweet malt. Taste is clean bourbon up front with nice vanilla and even some minor coconut before giving way to alcohol spice and a heavy, sweet malt backbone. There’s not much really going on with the malt profile but the bourbon character is nice and compliments the heavy malt with some trailing alcohol heat. Coating mouthfeel. Straightforward and enjoyable.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber purchased at Bine & Vine fifteen months ago ($10.99). Pours a very hazy brown-amber hue with a half finger of beige foam that quickly recedes to nothing. AROMA of rich toffee, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, maraschino cherry, and some spice. FLAVOR of dark caramel, vanilla, pipe tobacco, mild chocolate, molasses, and a bit of woody bourbon. Finishes with a moderated sweetness. The quite high ABV is really well concealed here. Another quality anniversary brew from Karl. (50, 801)

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Thanks, Miller! Another pretty impressive Anny ale from these folks, this one a fine and dangerously drinkable old ale. Deep brown pour with orange tints, silky and cloudy body with a nice firm head. Some dark notes mixed with grand marnier qualities in the nose, finished off by strong wood and rich fruits. Body is quite lively, even though it maintains sipper characteristics. Ultimately comes across like a slightly bolder Curmudgeon. Good one.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. Orange with a white head. The aroma is very nice. I get a lot of oak character, as well as some vanilla and bourbon. There is also some sticky molasses character and some toffee. The flavor is very similar. I get some bourbon, as well as the associated oak, vanilla and maple. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Very nice beer, understand there is some variation but it is intensely sweet and caramally, slight fruit, slight earthy hop.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz bottle from Shane. Thanks!
A: Caramel coloration with a creme head that’s content to rest around the edges. Surprisingly light on its legs.
N: Caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, and malts. Honey at the edges, and plenty of deep oak.
T: Tasty bourbon mixed with ample vanilla and honey. Caramel and toffee make for a sugary treat. Still balanced, I get some bitterness of hops and a hint of dried pineapple.
M: Rather light for an Old Ale. It doesn’t ruin the beer, but it could use some further heft and stickiness. However, it does drink far too easily for a 12.2% beer since the alcohol is shockingly absent.
O: A well-rounded beer. Balanced and enjoyable; Drink it soon, I think.
