3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Light aroma; dry and hoppy flavor. Nicely done. To date, this is the best Karl Strauss beer that I have sampled. Found on tap at home in San Diego.

UPDATED: DEC 27, 2014 12 oz. bottle. Malt forward beers like this typically don’t get as much respect. But I found it to be a tasty, rich tasting amber with distinct, yet faint, woody and earthy flavors and little hop bitterness. A very smooth exemplary lager. So sessionable. I’m ready for another.

Bottle thanks to StephanSD in SSS. Strong diacetyl aroma - buttery, sweet caramel malt. Mostly clear amber color. Caramel flavor, semisweet malt profile, crisp, no butter in the flavor.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance: A rich reddish, amber color. Decent foamy head.
Smell: I got toasty and bready notes in the nose.
Taste: A ton of caramel and toffee malt sweetness. Not that this tastes like a sugar bomb cider or anything. Just a nice refreshing change of pace from San Di-Hop-o IIIIIIIPAs. First sip to last gulp, I’m a fan of this Amber ale.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, straight down the middle.
Drinkability: Definitely a recommendation and on my go-to list for easy drinking beers.

Nice amber cor, crystal clear. Little to no aroma. Certainly a toasted quality in the flavor, well balanced and smooth.

On tap at the brew outlet on Columbia St, San Diego on 18th March 2014. Copper bronze clear body with a full head on top. Caramel and other malt molasses fill the nose with a mild citrus note trying to squeeze through. The taste is semi-sweet with the caramel leading the way in flavour, what ever hops there are just hover below the surface and only come out at the finish. I’m no lager fan but this did OK.
