A rather average beer, but, for the style, it’s certainly not terrible. It’s funny that the reviews are sort of all over the place (kinda sounds like the LAX bar needs to clean their tap lines). This is a clean, somewhat sweet lager. It’s a nice, clear amber with a dissipating white head that manages to hang on with a very tight white cap after a minute. The aroma is mostly doughy malt sweetness. There’s a faint hint of herbal hops, but it’s just a low abv amber lager with its roots in German brewing. It lacks any real depth of malt flavor. The flavor is vaguely sweet and fairly clean. It’s nice to have a <4.5% abv beer, but this one wants for flavor. Mouthfeel is inoffensive, though the carbonation seems oddly low. Ok beer.

Tried this at the LA Airport. Basic smells of some malts same for flavor with a hint of honey. Way too watered down for my tastes.

Typical amber pour, light white head. Aroma is lightly hoppy,(citrus), caramel malt. Flavor is much the same. Light citrus notes, caramel malt, wheat biscuits.

Well...I guess I’m the odd man out here.
I wasn’t impressed at all by this beer.
The bottle I had was a ’gusher’ and it spewed
all over my kitchen counter. The color is much too light for
an ’amber ale’ imho. It’s a light copper color. No red notes at all.
Sort of a funky stale tasted. I may have an old bottle. I’d like to think so
since all of the other reviewers are so positive.
I’ll try it again since it seems so popular. But I’m left unimpressed.

Clear, light amber appearance. Nose shows some sweet caramel. Easy drinking palate, definite caramel flavors, very light nutty/toasted flavors. Clean on the finish with a very light hop content.

Light malty aroma, taste is of light caremel malts. Nice and refreshing but nothing spectacular.

Bottle. Pours to a nice amber/bronze body with a thin white head. Decent lacing. The aroma is floral hops with torrified grains. The flavor is lightly hoppy toffee with a light "original" bubblegum. The palate is medium-light bodied, over carbonated, and is lightly metallic. Not a beer I’d get again.

On draft at Karl Strauss Universal City, 11/26/07. Clear, honey gold. Nice head retention. Fleeting smell of spice in nose. Agreeable, mellow malt character. No hops to speak of. Lingering corn on finish. Meh.

Appearance: Slightly cloudy amber with a small white head
Aroma: Caramel, malts and bready
Taste: Sweet malts, caramel, bready with some slight hop bitterness in the finish
An OK beer, nothing special.

UPDATED: APR 8, 2008 On tap at Chili’s. Served freezing cold into a frozen mug - might have been the coldest beer I’ve ever had. Amber in color with a decent size head that left a thin layer of foam, but I had to keep wiping the condensation off the side of the glass to see what it looked like. Not much in terms of aroma, probably due to how cold this thing was, but I could sense some caramel and biscuits. Flavors came through the iciness a bit more, and malts dominated with a subtle bread flavor. Medium-bodied, lots of, maybe too much, carbonation. Despite the presentation, there was enough here to suggest that it might be a decent beer if served at a reasonable temperature. Did I mention it was served cold?
