On tap at Taps in Petaluma. Pours an orange color with a bit of head. Intense hoppiness that is a little sharp tasting.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour on tap at the brewery, clear yellow-orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of big grapefruit, orange, white fruit into some pine, floral notes, some biscuit and slight caramel comes through. Taste is a mix of orange, citrus, some caramel, hints of white fruit, slight spice and floral hops into a bit of biscuit, finishing bitter. Pretty tasty.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled in 12/14. Pours orangy gold with medium white head. Aromas of cedar and caramel. Flavors are similar plus some grapefruit and melon??? Was expecting more especially since it is not even 2 months old. OK

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is among the sexiest beers I have had. It has the hallmarks of the archetypal Imperial IPA from the land that conceived this crazy, sexy beer. It looks good, as if it is a member of a Mormon family of singers with perfect teeth: perfect clarity, a lovely orange amber colour with a persistent head and good lace. Aromas of oranges, pink grapefruit, gooseberry and lime peel, testament to its New Zealand hops, grown less than twenty minutes away from where I am consuming it. The flavour is golden, spritzy and has grapefruit-like bitterness in spadefuls. It covers its abv very well to the extent that I could happily demolish another bottle if I had one handy. Gorgeous.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle on my 2nd day in San Jose(10/11). Clear brilliant gold under a dissipating white head. Big grapefruit aroma with some burnt caramel, floral and some resin. Taste was smooth delightful grapefruit, tolerable bitterness, mild oak tones. Very floral as well. Big body, long nice linger, with a small boozy warmth. Big yet balanced, with bitter hoppiness and caramel sweetness.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
650ml bottle, Crashing hops and a crashing wash of warm malts that finish in decent towards dry but not raspingly so. Grassy hops predominate up front, aroma great, colour great, this instantly appeals to me, Then I noticed the ABV and wonder if I’d remember in the morning just what a belter this is. (I will)

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Costa Mesa Karl Strauss place: happy hour on-tap $4.00 pint on 9th July 2014. Light amber pour with a thin white wisp for a head. Bitter and hoppy from the start, I really enjoyed it. The hop combination works well and what malt content there is prevents the bitterness getting completely out of hand. Very drinkable.
