COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“To kick off this series of intense hoppy beers, we wanted to go big. Imported New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hops provide a vibrant tropical aroma that raises eyebrows and expectations. Aggressive amounts of Warrior and Ahtanum hops produce an assertive bitterness that stands out against a firm malt backbone. Balanced even at 90 IBUs, Big Barrel leaves a considerable first impression that serves as a prelude of things to come.” According to a brewery rep, the beer will be distributed throughout Southern California and they’re planning on doing 1,000 cases of 22’s. Costa Mesa Karl Strauss place: happy hour on-tap $4.00 pint on 9th July 2014. Light amber pour with a thin white wisp for a head. Bitter and hoppy from the start, I really enjoyed it. The hop combination works well and what malt content there is prevents the bitterness getting completely out of hand. Very drinkable.

Flaske: Gulorange let diset øl med et stort skumhoved. Duft af jordbær og let citrus. Smagen er let sprittet men stadig godt humlet. Meget velfungerende øl.

20oz bottled I shared with my good firiend and a hop addict from San Diego, Paul, at Karl Strauss at the Universal Studios. It was my last beer at the end of my L.A. Visit. Aroma of citrus, malt, some alcohol. Color was shiny golden yellow. Taste citrus, bitter hops, malt backbone. Alcohol present but smartly hidden. Overall a great fresh and hoppy DIPA with more hops and less malt. I like that.

this beer sucks. wow, big disappointment for a san diego DIPA. tastes more like a midwestern colorado-ish DIPA. ugh.

March 23, 2014 - via bottle at Karl Strauss Universal. Cloudy orangish yellow with large head that lasted and lacing. Aroma was piney and citrus hops. Taste was malty and fruity with a dry mildly bitter finish. Palate was medium to full and slight carbonation.
