3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bomber from Beverages4Less. Was looking forward to this one, having enjoyed a similar brew from KS. The pour was extremely inviting, a lustrous gleaming orange with a two-finger creamy head and abundant sticky retention. Aroma is fairly nice, with inviting sweetness a bit to the fore of the bitter, piney hop smell. Nice creamy mouthfeel. But the taste was a bit of a letdown, with bready malts dominating and some oxidation evident. Seems like this oneís past its prime.

Iím not sure if this is the correct beer. I had an Imperial IPA on tap at PP Carlsbad. Dark amber pour, off-white head. Citrus, grapefruit, floral hops, caramel malt, and some biscuits. Well balanced and not too overwhelming.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the Old Columbia brewpub. Has a sweet honey aroma, also some butterscotch to the scent. Light amber with a thin white head. The flavor has delicious hop citrus grapefruit and mango. This beer has an intense malt flavor. A very classic IPA-like palate. Itís good beer but itís not great.

Bottle from Zinister.
Pours an average cheddar orange with a nose of lightly malted grapefruit and organic pine. Flavor is bready grapefruit banana. Oily mouthfeel. Not bad.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasty, well-made double IPA, but it lacks stand-out charisma. Rich, malty flavors of cocoa powder, bread and light toffee. Hops offer subdued tropical fruit flavors and a mild grassy bitterness. Big alcohol is hidden well. Overall, itís decent, but it lacks personality and uniqueness.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Ultra fresh bomber. Pours a deep orange-amber color with a ever so slight haze. A thick, spongy head of cream colored froth is excellently retained, settling at a snailís pace to a dense, foamy ring, and leaving rock hard, pronounced sheets of lacing on the glass. The nose booms with juicy hop notes, primarily focusing on grapefruit, mango, and honeydew melon. Malts are centered in slightly dried, moderately toasted toffee, hinting also at freshly baked white bread crust and some clean alcohol notes. Flavors are similarly structured, though not quite as well defined. Some of the tropical fruit notes drop out a bit, replaced by less exotic pine resin, while semi-sweet toffee and toasty bread keep things from getting overly bitter. The palate is big and moderately carbonated, but it refrains from getting overly sticky. Thereís a little alcohol warmth, but it is kept well in check. It actually drinks pretty easily for a double IPA. Very solid stuff. Clearly in the California style, which is right up my alley.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at Karl Strauss in Universal Studios LA. Pours a mostly clear, darker orange body with a two-finger width, fluffy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate amount of lacing. Aroma of woody earth and heavy citrus. More muted than the IPA, but the flavor is better. Sweet, slightly resiny, deeper earthy hops with a dry, piney finish. Lingers with a moderate sweet citrus. Overall, a standard DIPA with some nice balancing caramels.
