COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“To kick off this series of intense hoppy beers, we wanted to go big. Imported New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hops provide a vibrant tropical aroma that raises eyebrows and expectations. Aggressive amounts of Warrior and Ahtanum hops produce an assertive bitterness that stands out against a firm malt backbone. Balanced even at 90 IBUs, Big Barrel leaves a considerable first impression that serves as a prelude of things to come.” According to a brewery rep, the beer will be distributed throughout Southern California and they’re planning on doing 1,000 cases of 22’s. Bottle at Drie Dorstige Herten. Aroma of caramel and some rye. Fresh taste of white grape, caramel and bitter malt. Nice, but the bottle was too old.

Bottle thanks to Stefanje. Orangish amber pour with a big, thick off white head. I think it grew in the glass. Aroma is floral, with pine, citrus, a bit dank. Light caramel malt in the background. Flavor is resiny pine, citrus, mild tropical fruit, pretty nice bitterness. Quite nice to drink. Body is medium, creamy mouthfeel. Finished with a bit of herbal hops. Pretty great beer.

Bottled. Pours hazy and deep golden. Aroma of lemon, grapefruit, tropcal fruit and spicy, notes. Sweet flavor hat ends up more dry and solid bitter. Medium bodied, oily texture and soft carbonation. A very nice DIPA inded. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Bomber from Beverages4Less. Was looking forward to this one, having enjoyed a similar brew from KS. The pour was extremely inviting, a lustrous gleaming orange with a two-finger creamy head and abundant sticky retention. Aroma is fairly nice, with inviting sweetness a bit to the fore of the bitter, piney hop smell. Nice creamy mouthfeel. But the taste was a bit of a letdown, with bready malts dominating and some oxidation evident. Seems like this one’s past its prime.

22 oz bottle. Fuzzy peach brown with a white head. Nose is toffee, spiced apple cider, dough and mild pine. Juicy medium body, a touch syrupy and resiny, just enough carb to lighten. Taste is orange juice concetrate, grass, juniper and grapefruit peel. Too tilted toward the sweet side.
