yespr (6162), Copenhagen O, Denmark Aug 6, 2008 From tap at the brewpub in Carlsbad. Pours dark brown to black with a lacing tan head. Smooth roasted malt flavour with a nice liqourice note. Liqourice hops and dry roasted malt finish. Mild bitterness coming through. CaptainCougar (4624), Rockville, Maryland, USA Apr 15, 2007 Sampled at the Carlsbad location on 11/30/06: Pours a mostly opaque with a spotty-lacing light tan head. Toasty grainy malty aroma has some light fruit notes and a lager yeast profile. Body starts effervescent and lightly sweet with some dark caramel and a touch of raisins toward a bready dark German malty finish. Pretty true to style. BückDich (4525), Boise, Idaho, USA Mar 4, 2006 Draught at Karl Strauss La Jolla: Light tar color, nose of fruity dark plum and raisin, some dark caramel and light roast. The flavor is a bit metallic and thin, comparatively. Decent tail. goldtwins (3721), Nesconset, New York, USA Dec 27, 2006 Hazy and very dark brown color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma was of sweet chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor had a sweat and big coffee front then a chocolate finish. Light to medium bodied with a lively mouthfeel.
