Urge. Black with fizzy eggshell head. Nose light roasted malt and high sweetness. Very light nose. Taste light flat malty smack with only a hint of sweet. Not a lot there but is good for the style.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 riversideAK (5413) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - JUL 10, 2007
A roasty chocolate malt aroma. Definite sweetenss comes through in the nose. The beer is black with a tan head. It looks a little muddy and crude as well. Flavor is intensely roasty, nutty, and chocolatey. It finishes pretty crisp with a lingering coffee flavor.

Draft at the Carlsbad location. A black beer with a red shine under a tan head. The aroma is very malty combined with notes of bread and caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with a light acidic edge from the roasted malt, since it is rather roated, and has a dry, bitter, and roasted finish. 28 IBU’s. MIne was stated at 4.4% ABV.

Sampled at the Carlsbad location on 11/30/06: Pours a mostly opaque with a spotty-lacing light tan head. Toasty grainy malty aroma has some light fruit notes and a lager yeast profile. Body starts effervescent and lightly sweet with some dark caramel and a touch of raisins toward a bready dark German malty finish. Pretty true to style.

On tap at Universal. Abit of hoppiness for the style with this one, good balance, nice drinking beer, dark fruit, but very easy drinking.
