Darkish golden in color. Sweet, roast corn aroma, with the lightest hints of apple. Very subtle flavor, corny, and very cidery. Not much by way of hops, a very slight bitterness in the aftertaste, and a very dry finish. Kind of watery. It’s not amazing by far, but it’s tolerable, and as far as most American lagers go that’s saying a lot.

Bottle from Henryís. Light yellow on pouring. Slightly sweet grainy aroma, very light. More flavorful than most beer super light beers. Still it is what it is, a light beer.

draft at brewpub - I donít have much to say about this one. Itís about what Iíd expect from a light pale lager that at least avoid adjuncts. Itís thin, sweet, and bland.

(11/2/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in downtown San Diego. 3.4%. Clear pale golden color with a white head. Aroma has graininess and cereal. Sweet grainy flavor with some husky notes. Light-bodied.

Draft at the Carlsbad location. A light golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with a light skunky note due to lack of malt, but also a light malt note. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw on a lightly malty back ground, leading to a dry lightly bitter finish. 15 IBUís. Was told it was at 3.4% ABV.

On tap at the Universal location. Pours with a VERY pale yellow body with a white head.Aroma is very light, with some grainy and biscuit notes. Flavors are dry, bready, cooked corn, cracker, with no bitterness. Noticeable DMS. Dry mouthfeel with spirited carbonation.

Draught at Karl Strauss La Jolla: Golden color, no nose or flavor. Just a adjuncty lager with overtones of bland. 2.8% ABV? Whatís the point..

On tap at the Old Columbia location. Bitterness is at 15 IBUís and the lack of malt cannot support even this level of hops. Pale yellow with a white head. Lacks the nasty corn or rice adjunct aroma, but the body is just as meaningless as a BMC. For a Karl, this sucks.

On tap at the Hotel Del Coronado. Very disappointing. I had no idea how light this was. I mine as well have ordered a Perrier. No aroma to speak of. Taste is flat with little to no umph. Iíd tear this down and start all over.

Itís a light pale lager, so there really is not much aroma, but it does smell like a beer and not like an adjunct filled BMC. The light golden appearance is characteristic of the style. Flavor is slight breadiness, a little hop crispness, and some carbonated water. Not the most complex brew obviously but way better than crappy mass produced pale lagers.
