COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our version of a Flanders-style Red Ale is as tart as it is complex. A special lactic fermentation in the brew kettle provides its distinct sour fruit character that comes through in overtures of cherries, pomegranate, and black currants.

10th rating! Let’s make this one legit. I have read the ratings and I am embarrassed to say that I loved this. Have I been out of the game too long to not know what a good sour ale is? I was shocked at how good this was coming from KS. It was sweet but sour. Had a musty cherry, vanilla, bitterness to it. I liked it. Was a favorite of the night for me. And I had PTE and a pretty good bruin. Keep making this KS!

I had this on tap at Karl Strauss in Costa Mesa. This red pour had a nice tart flavor, but not as "big" a tartness as you’d find in other Flanders Reds. It was very drinkable.

Draft. Rich amber beerw ith a light tan head. Oak and light tart aroma. Dark red fruit and oak flavor with tartness. Medium bodied. Red fruit and light lemon/green apple lingers with tartness and light oak.

Clear red with a fluffy white head. Nice tart fruit aroma and a very dry tart/sour taste with a heavy grainy finish.

Sort of a beginner Flanders red. It has the sourness down but then there is a lot of grain taste. Also not very red on color, which is nitpicky. Am average sour beer.

In taster at Churchills. Looks dark amber and a little unclear. Tiny off white head. Smells like a sour straight up and some rose. Taster thick sour throughout with a bit of amber caramel backup. Overall 6.5 of 10.

A: The beer pours a murky, almost muddy, amber color with a thin layer of off-white head. S: Has a strange aroma of maple syrup which is quickly replaced by vinegar and sweet, dark fruit. Lots of cherries, maybe some grapes and apples. A bit of oak followed by more sweet malt, mostly caramel. T: Sweet and vinegary with most of the same characteristics that existed on the aroma. Maple syrup, oak, and vinegar, with a bit of sour cherry. Some mild grass and straw with plenty of caramel. M: Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation. O: The vinegar flavor was a bit too abrasive and the amount of sweetness was a bit odd.

Tap. Rating #15. Tart fruity aroma, cherries maybe. Murky dark reddish brown with a light tan head. Sour, spine tingling, dry and a little metallic. Not bad. (1501)

Pours slightly red with very small head smells like tart fruit and bread. Tastes like like bland sour cherries up front and wheat on the back end. If this were your first sour you might say something like, "that was pretty good for a sour" but if you have tasted even a mid grade sour you would say, "that sucked big time"

Sample from growler. Clear reddish pour, thin head. Lightly sour, fruit, light cherry, and a bit sweet. Pretty bland for a sour, not that good.

Damn. I was hoping this was going to be a new add for me, as I had it on tap at Urge in Poway/RB. The KS rep was there so we talked about the brew for a bit. 20 barrels brewed, 20 ibus, and 20 srms. Taste is light sour with a copper pucker draw. Tart cherry to citrus sour. Mild acidic finish. Nose very subtle and mild. Tan champagne head mixed with big bubbles moving up through. Light tobacco hints. Good attempt from a brewer not known for anything sour?
