COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Belgium-style ale brewed with the changing seasons in mind. Firm toasty and sweet coffee-like malt flavors are underpinned by a subtle vanilla oakiness. Peppery spice adds character to this beer’s slightly dry and warming finish. 35 SRM 24 IBU 15.5 Plato

Surprised to see this categorized as a brown ale rather than as a Belgian ale... Anyway, this brew hit the spot. Thinnish brown-amber appearance--translucent body, with a slice of head. Spicy root beer aroma and flavor that showcases the melding of brown malt and clovey Belgian character. Full-bodied, evincing a pleasing complexity.Spicy Belgian yeast, caramel and brown malts, all playing in sweet harmonic balance.

Poured from a draft into a pint glass at Bully’s East in San Diego, Calif. Color was mahogany, reddish brown. Maybe an inch of head. Circular lacing on the top. Good amount of film on the sides. Smelled of roasty malts. Also some caramel malts in there as well. Hints of citrus in there, too. Tasted cloves up front, followed by caramel, roasty malts. Banana and chocolate in there as well. Very smooth. Medium body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Smooth finish. I liked this beer a lot. This could’ve been a few spots higher or lower with the ratings, but I ended up with this rating. Good beer.

Bottle. Mahogony beer with a cream colored head. Big roast and light yeast aroma. Roast and light spice flavor with light yeast and light esters. Medium bodied. Roast and light yeast lingers with light esters and light caramel.

Pours semi-clear and cola-like with a minimal head and carbonation. Feels light in body but full in flavor. I taste coffee and spices coming together smoothly in a thin to average texture. It finished crisp and short. Pretty tasty (above average) but not worth seeking out.

Pours a dark cherry chocolate color with a thick head. Light and very subtle coffee aroma. Initial fruit on the front with a strong malty finish. Also, a faint hint of an oak arrives after the original settlement.

12oz bottle. Rating #49. Very dark amber/red pour, almost ruby with a tan head, really a nice looking brew. Sweet malty aroma, spice (sweet) yeasty belgian thing going on as well. Sweet flavor, a little grape action going on here, light toast. Pretty good. (1486).

12oz bottle pours clear copper with off white head. The aroma is roasty malts, spicy yeast, cloves, coriander, a touch dusty and more yeast. The taste offers up various malts and spiciness with roasted malts, a sliver or two of caramel, cloves, allspice, coriander and yeastiness. Wow. The spices, roasted malts and sense of caramel all go very well together here and it finishes up with a mild note of red apple. Tasty stuff.

Draft sample. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted sweety malt and small yeast aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew.
