COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Belgium-style ale brewed with the changing seasons in mind. Firm toasty and sweet coffee-like malt flavors are underpinned by a subtle vanilla oakiness. Peppery spice adds character to this beer’s slightly dry and warming finish. 35 SRM 24 IBU 15.5 Plato

On tap served in a stemmed tulip. Although subdued, the aromas that come through are mainly caramel, roasted nuts, and some berries. The beer pours a clear red brown color with a thin, off-white head that doesn’t leave any lacing. It’s a nice blend of medium sweetness and medium-light bitter tastes. Roasted nuts and caramel mainly dominate the palate, although some coffee notes seem to be present. It’s a medium bodied, slick beer with a fizzy carbonation. It finishes with a grassy and resin quality to it accompanied by a mild pepper and vanilla touch, and maybe some wood character too.

On tap at the Karl Strauss Brew Pub located in La Jolla, CA. I stopped by here while the wife took the kids to Starbucks... Poured a darker brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, woody, vanilla, and somewhat earthy. Tastes of vanilla, chocolate, lighter woodiness, and caramel.

Numba 4 in bottle - Appearance: Pours a clear dark amber brown with a white pin stripe for head. Aroma: Fruity Belgian yeast, dry bready malt and a slight sweet cherry note. Taste: Bread crust, fruity yeast, both of which remind me of a doppelbock. Finishes bitter. Mouthfeel: Low to medium carbonation. Medium bodied. Overall: A nice new beer from Karl Strauss. If you were bummed years ago on Red Trolley or Endless Summer Light, its time to revisit the folks who are now making this and Tower 10 IPA.
