Pours a light brown similar to other brown ales. Smells of molasses and yeast hit you at first sniff. Taste of bread, yeast, and caramel. A strong brown. thick aftertaste. A good seasonal that keeps you warm with 6.3% ABV.

Rating #15 of this brew. Some Italian rest./Sports Bar on Balboa in SD. Looks like a brown ale. Quickly disappearing off-white big-bubbled head. Nose is sweet malt. High sweetness with tiny bit of spice. Taste is all sweet malt. Light brown sugar burst with not much after the finish. Very light mouthfeel. I didnít pick up typical Belgian characteristics, except for MAYBE the TINIEST hint of citricy sweetness.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of riversideak. Dark brown color with a soft red hue. The head is fluffy but fading away quickly. For a brown ale this is looking pretty good. Slight nuttiness with touches of roast and a VERY light smoke. This doesnít last long seeing it is overshadowed by the subtle dark fruit aroma. Some raisin and grape, with a touch of Belgian yeast. Dig deep with the nostrils because it is not extremely pungent. Well-balanced and nuanced, just not much is popping out at me. Light body, with a weird nut flavor that has some grape and raisin backing to it. For a brown ale there are some nice twists to this style, but overall it just isnít wowing me whatsoever. I donít ever expect brown ales to be thick, but you could use a bit more malts and plump this sucker up.

Bright copper/red color with light tan head. Rootbeer spice, toffee, vegetal celery, aromas. Medium body. Caramel, celery, nutty, dry spice, herbal flavors--ok.

On tap. Strong bready notes along with toasted malt and dried fruit in the aroma. Body is medium-thick, a bit oily. Flavor suggests grilled toast, smoke, and meatymalts. A touch of hop bitterness on the finish cuts the sweetness. Not bad, but underwhelming.

Not getting much Belgian notes from this but it is an off-kilter brown and I appreciate any brewery giving this forgotten style a go. Has some slight spice notes and warms a little more than the average but still could use a flavor boost.

This was a Belgian beer with very little Belgian yeast in the aroma and flavor. A very tasty beer but as for style this misses the chart. Good malts and a nice finish it was like a brown ale to me.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Brown with tan head. Roasted grain, nutty aroma. Tastes like toast, cereal, nuts and Kelloggís Postem. Dry maltiness with little hop presence. Not sure why they bothered calling it a Belgian-Style brown ale as it is nothing like any Belgian Bruin I have ever had.

2.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a dark cherry chocolate color with a thick head. Light and very subtle coffee aroma. Initial fruit on the front with a strong malty finish. Also, a faint hint of an oak arrives after the original settlement.
