COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In a city known for its Imperial IPA’s, Karl Strauss Brewing Company is boldly releasing one of the first commercially brewed Imperial Amber Lagers. We took Karl’s favorite beer and reinvented it with true San Diego style. The Imperial Amber Lager is reminiscent of the original version with large amounts of toasted caramel malt flavors, but also has a life of its own – coming in at 7.5% abv – this version is balanced with a unique blend of Newport and New Zealand Motueka hops for a bright, citrussy finish

Draft. Poured clear amber color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted malt and floral hop aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium sweet finish that was moderate in duration. This is a solid beer for style.

On tap at Costa Mesa location. Rich burnt caramel notes, medium carbonation, nice bit of hop bite at the end. Head is a bit thin and I’m having trouble getting a good whiff of the beer, but that’s probably a combo of the draft in here + touch of seasonal allergies. Definitely worth a try if you come across it.
