Copper color. Sweet malty aroma. Grain, caramel, toffee, vanilla, wood? Flavor is mostly sweet malt with nice caramel and grainy notes. Alcohol makes its presence known in the finish. A nice malty finish. Really a very nice beer.

Poured at Karl Strauss in Carlsbad, CA. Poured from tap with small head, and great lacing. Slightly sweet, low bitterness, wonderful aftertaste.

On tap at the Old Columbia brewpub. Pours dark amber with a yellow-beige head. The head is thick and creamy. This is a BIG beer with great staying power. Very sweet upfront. This is a true doppelbock in the malt body and heat department, but it lacks the strong roasted or chocolate flavor. This is sort of like a maibock on steroids! Malty anise and caramel toasted aroma. A Divine beer! The finish is sweet and Uzo-like. This has amazing strength, but the bartender said it was only 7.3% abv when I tasted it. It tastes way stronger. I think the bartender may have been sampling too much of this. I see that I liked this beer way more than my pal bu11zeye.

(Draft) Pours a deep amber body with a moderate white head. Sweet and roasted malt flavor that covers the alcohol content nicely.
