3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 quiznoaz (211) - Arizona, USA - MAR 6, 2012
Beer #2 in a flight. Dark poor, but rather thin still. Some toasted malt in the flavor, and smooth. Description says moderate bitterness, but this one must have gone to counseling, as it was rather calm, and even had a touch of sweetness at the end.

Not a great beer at all, not terrible, I wouldnt buy it again. I was expecting substantially more. on tap at strauss sorento, pretty decent, no real aroma, decent body, but a tad thin and bland.
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 imaragingbull (349) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - MAR 30, 2010
On Tap at Karl Strauss Restaurant at Universal City. Served in a english pint glass ABV 5%. Opaque deep brown/black with nitro C02 mix allowed to settle into a rather attractive creamy head. Choc/Cocoa and sweet malt aromas on the nose. Roasty flavours then added on the palate post tasting. Carbonation is smooth and the mouthfeel is light and creamy with an excellent not so dry finish (for this dry stout). Quite a lovely beer on tap. Would enjoy again if the chance arose.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 J_man (421) - Tustin, California, USA - MAR 10, 2010
On tap at the Brewery Gardens in Sorrento Mesa. Black as can be with a dense nitro head. This honestly tasted more like an oatmeal porter than an oatmeal stout. The body was much too thin for a stout, but this was still a really good beer. Of course I might be biased as porter is one of my favorite styles. Good roasty notes and flavor overall.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 doubleo (1440) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 6, 2010
Pours cloudy, dark brown with a creamy, resilient, offwhite head that leaves sheet lace. Smells of mellow, dark, roasted malts. Tastes lightly roasty and malty, watery. Some dishwater as well. Medium, watery body and smooth carbonation.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 DeadGirl (473) - La Jolla, California, USA - MAR 1, 2010
On tap at Karl Strauss at the La Jolla location (San Diego, CA): Pours out dark brown and see through, topped with a thin head that lasted for maybe a minute. Nice aroma of toasted chocolate malts, caramel, and oatmeal. But then how is the overall taste so watery? Creamy texture with a smooth roasted flavor in the beginning, but that clearly didn’t last. Bittersweet finish. Drinkability: Overrated. Pairing: Meat pie. Rebuy: Needs a rerate. #314 on 01032010, DG.

On tap, opaque black with a small tan head. Aroma is coffee ‘n’ cream, browned oats. Flavor has a nutty, well-rounded sweetness, offset slightly by roasted flavors. Palate is slick, lightly carbonated. A bit subdued for the style, but still perfectly drinkable.
