COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imagine if Red Trolley T-boned a semi full of hops. Brewed with an overload of hops and five types of caramel malt, this full-bodied strong ale has plum, raisin, and caramel flavors that are balanced by an aggressive hop bitterness and warming finish. ABV: 8% 30 SRM 70 IBU 22 Plato

Poured from a 22oz bomber. Pours a deep red, with malty aromas, and big frut aroma as well. Almost an apple or pear. Soft on the mouth, light earthy hop flavor. This is a pretty good beer. Not great but pretty good. It’s too bad this isn’t just how red trolley is always made.

Pour on tap at the brewery, dark reddish pour with thin off white head, aroma brought big caramel, toffee, red fruit into some slight pine, spice, almost a rye note into some earth, slight herbal notes as well. Taste was a mix of red fruit, touch of orange into caramel, toffee, some toasted bread into herbal, grassy hops, finishing slightly bitter, dry.

Smooth and very sweet. I know the hops are scored at 70, but I don't taste them. I also don't taste the alcohol - dangerous!

Bottle at the hotel. Pours clear tawny with a medium, frothy off-white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is sweet toast and bread malt, figs, maple syrup, dates and light earthy hops. Flavor is sweet malt, rich bread, faint hops and bitterness, light alcohol spiciness, dark fruits and a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

A pretty good, dark amber beer. Potent and rich raisin, brown sugar and bread character. Picked this one up in SF in 2014.

Pours a nice reddish brown with an off white head. Aroma of sweet malt. Caramel, and a bit of a nutty flavor. I think this would age pretty well, it did seem a little boozy but I think that will mellow with age.

Draft at the tasting room. Pours deep amber with a beige head. Sweet caramel and faint crystal malts, fruity and earthy hops, and some candy sweetness. Not bad, but just a touch too heavy on the sweet malt character for my taste.

Barreras (1114) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - JUL 19, 2014
Pours a brwon and ruby color with a faint sweet malt aroma. Taste was distinctly plum, raisin, and caramel mixed together. The alcohol content came through in the flavor and dissipated rather quickly. This led to a warming finish, almost like a light alcohol burn in the chest after the swallow.

22 FL OZ ($9.99) pretty good beer. first taste is a lot of fruit and finishes with alcohol on the palate. head a good head, and an easy taste. I had the 2014 release and is rated at 8.5% ABV and 40 IBU. very easy going beer if not for the alcohol, needs a better masking to make this any better.

Super malty aromas, all caramel and bread. Pours clear copper-red with a white head. Caramel flavors and a sweet finish.

Appearance: Nice deep red color, okay head. Smell: Big caramel in the nose. Taste: Sweet and malty, with hops punching in mid-taste. Mouthfeel: Medium body. Drinkability: Smooth and balanced. Off The Rails is my go to beer for something with big malts and then some big hops.
