Picked up a six-pack. Poured golden, straw color. Aroma was pleasant with caramel, cereal, toasty. It tasted very balanced with a delicious malty flavor. Smooth. This is a great representation of Oktoberfest. I will be picking up a few more before the season is over.

Karl Strauss Oktoberfest specialty brew is a smooth drinking that tastes of bananas and wheat bread. A nice special occasion beer.

I tasted this from a 12oz bottle - bright in appearance and really nice carbonation. I got some toasted malts in the aroma. I initially got a good amount of malts on my first sip, but then got a fair share of crispness in the finish. Exactly what I’d expect from an Oktoberfest beer. Medium bodied, nothing out of the norm here. A very drinkable, clean Oktoberfest beer. I love that this is a locally brewed Oktoberfest that tastes really true to the actual style, not like a dated import from Germany. I’m a fan of this and would totally recommend it to a friend. Cool bottle label. Not your father’s Oktoberfest design.

The first taste of this was not good at all. But, after I became accustomed to it it was much better. A bold flavored beer. I bought this this the first week in september so i feel pretty special considering the commercial description says its not available till the last friday in september.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 hopscotch (8215) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - NOV 2, 2010
Bottle… Clear, deep amber lager with a small, creamy, white head. Great retention. The aroma lures with NYC chestnuts roasting on an open flame, medium-roast malts, toasty notes and toffee. Light to medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. The flavor provides good balance among toasty, nutty goodness – maybe some date in here as well. Nutty, lightly sweet, toffee finish.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Sledutah (3192) - Utah, USA - OCT 14, 2010
On tap at the La Jolla brewpub and the San Diego airport
Appearance: Poured clear yellow/gold with a nice big white head and good lacing
Aroma: Nutty, toasted malts
Taste: Sweet malts, caramel and nutty
A nice Oktoberfest, clean and refreshing. ** I had this beer again at the SD Airport, it was darker, sweeter and maltier. The bartender assured me the keg was correct, but it tasted more like their Amber Lager.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BrotherGrendel (787) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 17, 2010
Bottle. Clear, bright orange with quickly dissipating head. Nose is quite subtle hints of grains, nuts, toast. Flavor is surprisingly flavorful with a full range of rich sweet malts, toast, caramel, nuts with a backbone of grassy hop bitterness, finishes sweet. Medium body, light carbonation, watery texture. A very solid marzen for this big brewery chain, malts are well-showcased here.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dogbrick (6022) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 24, 2010
UPDATED: SEP 9, 2010 Sample at the Universal City location. This beer pours a clear orange color with a thick and fluffy off-white head that diminishes to a film eventually. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. Caramel malt aroma with mild hops behind it. Medium body with flavors of sweet caramel, biscuity malt and hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.
