Poured from a bottle into a tumbler. A rich amber toffee colour with a small head that very quickly dissipates leaving some lacing. On the nose it has tropical fruit aromas and some piney resin hops, a very pleasant smelling apa. Taste is not as bitter as expected with nice malt and pleasant mouthfeel. Overall very sessionable and refreshing.

Bottle in San Diego. Light, refreshing and a bit tame. Touch of caramel malt and decent body. Grassy herbal hops for flavor. Seems like this is made a little more for a wider audience as opposed to an earth shattering ipa experience. Drinkable but so many other options in SD.

mattyhennessy (376) - Highton, AUSTRALIA - JAN 28, 2014
Pours a golden clear yellow with a foamy white head. Medium carbonation, aromas of citrus and pine. Initial malt flavour balanced well with grapefruit bitterness. Finishing hops deliver a slight citrus peel flavour that is pleasant on the tongue. Very delicious

Drank from bottle. Very flavorful, hoppy, refreshing and balanced. Plenty of citrus notes and some bitterness to keep the finish crisp. A good sessional beer.

In a word: lovely. Initially a bit musty aroma-wise, and even BO-like from the bottle which somehow transforms into distinct grapefruit with light tropical tones. Light amber on the pour with adequate carbonation. First sensation on the palate is floral followed quickly by bright orange zest with a very pleasant light bitterness. It’s a grower for sure and would make a great session ale.

On tap at the brewpub - Pours clear amber with a thin off-white head. Nose is a blast of citrus--grapefruit with a little pine and onion. Clean malt body, crackery with nice grapefruit and floral hops. Thin and clean body. Awesome--just what I’m looking for in an APA.

Draft at Karl Strauss - Downtown San Diego location. Pours clear, rich gold with a creamy white cap. Good aroma, lots of dank grapefruit and pine. Light to medium sweet flavor with further grapefruit, some mango and melon, a bit of sticky pine and orange rind. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Well balanced to finish with some sticky, resinous pine, light toasted bread, grapefruit, a bit of rindy bitterness. Quite solid, really. Has a nice hop kick without being over the top.

No love for Karl Strauss? I thought this was a very nice brew. Pours clear dark golden copper color with a fluffy white two finger head. Floral aroma, with some light citrus coming in in the big nose. Flavor is a nice sweet citrus and light bitter pine on the finish. There is a definite malty biscuit backbone on this one with some caramel sweetness. Slick mouthfeel with high carbonation and some bite lingering on the palate. Very nice beer.
