Light, sweet aroma of citrus with maybe some pine. Definate presence of sweet malt. Mouthfeel is pleasantly light with low carbonation. A little bitterness at the end. It’s a mild example of the type. Pleasant , but not exciting.

Drank from bottle. Very flavorful, hoppy, refreshing and balanced. Plenty of citrus notes and some bitterness to keep the finish crisp. A good sessional beer.

In a word: lovely. Initially a bit musty aroma-wise, and even BO-like from the bottle which somehow transforms into distinct grapefruit with light tropical tones. Light amber on the pour with adequate carbonation. First sensation on the palate is floral followed quickly by bright orange zest with a very pleasant light bitterness. It’s a grower for sure and would make a great session ale.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma- nice pine and citrus quality
Appearance- golden color
Taste- pine and grapefruit hop flavors come through. malt balance comes in at just the right time. bitterness lingers in the finish, pleasantly so.
Overall- very sessionable pale ale. lots of flavor going on. not over powering on the hop side.

Again, great packaging--love the cruiser and beach reference! Amber, color like dark caramel, good head, legs--wraps around the glass; strong flavor with hints of citrus and sweet (flowers), good smooth taste, not too bubbly-fun bubbles!

Calling this American Pale Ale "average" does no justice to the wonderful amalgam of caramel maltiness, light and balanced bitterness, an inviting grassy-citrus hop aroma, and a nicely-carbonated feel. Karl Strauss’ Pintail Pale Ale just works -- it goes down smoothly, leaves a pleasant aftertaste, and is the perfect accompaniment to a nice summer day.
