3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a slightly cloudy amber with a large off-white head. Not super hoppy as an IPA would be, but it does have a nose of spruce. Good body, nice flavor, but nothing that really stands out.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Faultless APA. Pours deep amber with good clarity and medium, slightly off-white head. Great lacing. Upfront pine and caramel aromas, with interesting fruit notes coming through. Grapefruit is present, but also are some sweet tropical fruits. Body is medium-thin. While not particularly memorable, the taste is balanced and quite refreshing. An appropriate malt backing supports a medium bitterness that provides a biting finish, but not as exhaustive as an IPA.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours an Amber colour, looks a little like a lager.
Aroma is quite faint, canít really smell anything, though what i can smell is a bit of apricot and pine.
Taste. I can mainly taste apricot, with also some grapefruit, followed by a nice toffee and sweet bread malt backing.
Overall. A good beer, easy drinking, although a little bland for my liking, i would enjoy this as a session beer and it is something i would rate very highly as an entry level apa.

I have to agree with zoot07 on this one, this is a better pale ale than what the scores and ratings suggest. The hops and malt balance is spot on as it treads that fine line between a subtle pale ale and IPA really well. This is one of the best pale ales around and great price for Aussie standards, robust , tasty and wonderful dry hopping. Well done Karl Strauss!

My bottle of Pintail Pale Ale poured a rich golden amber color. Decent head. Had a really clean look. A pleasant aroma, hints of citrus (maybe grapefruit?) Taste: Wow - this ale delivers big on the citrus with the first sip. Pretty cool. I think my favorite thing about the Pintail is the malts I get mid-sip. Creates a nice balance with the vibrant hops. My bottle had a fairly ale-standard medium body - Nothing crazy. This is a smooth pale ale with an interesting hoppiness. Iíd totally recommend this. Canít wait for a hot San Diego day to enjoy a couple more.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Light, sweet aroma of citrus with maybe some pine. Definate presence of sweet malt. Mouthfeel is pleasantly light with low carbonation. A little bitterness at the end. Itís a mild example of the type. Pleasant , but not exciting.

Drank from bottle. Very flavorful, hoppy, refreshing and balanced. Plenty of citrus notes and some bitterness to keep the finish crisp. A good sessional beer.

Nice nose and good looking pour. Good hoppiness, grapefruit, some fruity sweetness on the front. Not overly bitter. Crisp. Smooth on the palate. Extremely drinkable pale ale. Not over the top hoppiness or bitterness like IPAs, which allows a more well-rounded enjoyment experience. Would drink this again and again.
