3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle in San Diego. Light, refreshing and a bit tame. Touch of caramel malt and decent body. Grassy herbal hops for flavor. Seems like this is made a little more for a wider audience as opposed to an earth shattering ipa experience. Drinkable but so many other options in SD.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear amber with a white head that lasts and laces. Aroma of kumquat, grapefruit, a little peach, pine. Thinnish body, rather dull mouthfeel. Not much malt presence, some caramel. Sharpish citrus, dry bitter finish is a bit herbal too. Not enough to support the hops for me.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Yamaichi. Fresh yeasty nose with light grapefruit. Reddish copper color. Malty initial, light peaches, very smooth but slightly dirty hopping, final bitter notes do not linger very long. Medium body. Fairly typical APA. Well made. Would go well with some So Cal Mexican food.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: SEP 21, 2004 The only reason I drink this was Karl had a lock on all the beers at Street Scene. I know these guys dont give a crap about their beer and it shows. Too bad.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the brewpub - Pours clear amber with a thin off-white head. Nose is a blast of citrus--grapefruit with a little pine and onion. Clean malt body, crackery with nice grapefruit and floral hops. Thin and clean body. Awesome--just what I’m looking for in an APA.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Draft: World Curry in San Diego, CA) Not too bad for a Karl Strauss beer, but I have pretty low expectations of them, so it’s all relative I suppose; Moderately bitter, hoppy, dominant light citrus flavor; Pretty light on the malt, with a mild sweetness; Smells lightly sweet and malty with some hops and citrus; Very carbonated mouthfeel, light-to-medium body; Light golden color; Off-white head settles to a sheen, with lots of delicate, but dense lacing

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I had this on tap at Karl Strauss in Costa Mesa. It’s a nice golden pour with good balance between the hops & malt.

On tap @ Hamilton’s. Pretty much your standard pale. Clear golden pour with a frothy white head. Light nose of citrus hops and some malt. Finish was crisp and refreshing.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: OCT 30, 2010 Bottle from Valley Farm. Aroma is quite bitter. Seems too have a strong pine scent. Dry and bitter. Pretty good hoppiness for an APA. Bitter throughout. Pretty easy drinking.
