12 oz bottle from Bev4less. Pours a copper color with a small white head that soon recedes to a fine ring. The aroma is soft with sweet malts and mild hops. The flavor is biter and sweet with pine resins and caramel malts working in a nice balance. The palate was just a bit light, and the carbonation was lively. Finishes short and clean. Overall: A good everyday ale.

Bottle from Yamaichi. Fresh yeasty nose with light grapefruit. Reddish copper color. Malty initial, light peaches, very smooth but slightly dirty hopping, final bitter notes do not linger very long. Medium body. Fairly typical APA. Well made. Would go well with some So Cal Mexican food.

Very little noticable hops, a weak pale ale, even for an American Style. Malty, wheaty, and somewhat spicy.

Bottle from Dan Murphyís. Very tasty, and a with a great nose. Aromas of apricot, caramel, citrus, nuts. Taste is sweet, with bitter notes, and average length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Amber, with a frothy head.

Davros (1897) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - OCT 28, 2012
Pours dark amber with a large, lasting head. Very hoppy aroma, lots of pine, floral notes, citrus fruit and spicy hops. Some light clean malt underneath. Flavours follow along the same lines, with more floral and spicy notes along with a little fruit. Lovely clean malt underneath with just a hint of a cookie dough-like character. Carbonation is perhaps just a little high. Wonderfully refreshing and drinkable.

On draft at Columbia Street brewpub. Pours a clear, deep amber color with a thin off-white head that leaves some spotty lace. Aroma is dominated by hops with some toasty malts evident as well. Flavor is very briefly of toasty malts, then become all about the hops, citrus, grapefruit and pine notes abound, with a slight spiciness in the finish - hoppy indeed and somewhat unbalanced to this beer lover. Medium body and cripsy carbonation. Overall this is a just above average brewpub beer.

On tap at Karl Strauss Carlsbad. Brown amber color. Lots of hop bitterness. Nice clean grassy hoppy aroma. Very nuce. Karl Strauss keeps getting better and better. I think several of the staff are getting heavier into brewing, attending QUAFF, etc, which is helping the beer quality.

Damn, forgot to enter this...12oz. bottle

Appearance: Pours a clear amber orange with a retaining thin cap of head.

Aroma: A nice hoppy aroma featuring herbal and citrus notes.

Taste: Bitterness, citrus, and a bite of salty caramel.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, slightly juicy and moderate carbonation.

Overall: A very solid APA that I think most would enjoy. It isnít as crisp as most California Pale Ales, but the malt backbone will make this much more approachable to folks who donít care for a Sierra Nevada type of APA.

On draft at the SD airport. Poured a clear gold. Some hops on the nose, mostly piney, lightly roasted caramel malts. Tasted more of the same, not very hoppy.

A damn fine beer, I would drink it until my liver gave way. Nothing offensive at all, just beer bliss. Would get again fo sho. Had on cask and on tap, both were really good. Aroma was killer, bright with hops. flavor was dry and drinkable and hoppy.
