22 ounce bottle from JohnCoctosin, poured a red copper color, canít really describe the beer better than its description. For once a description is on par to the actual beer, good in summer heat.

Pours a copperish red color with a short lived off white soapy head. The aroma is a mix of pine hops and roster malt. The taste was bitter and metallic. The body was thin with a nasty metallic aftertaste.Just not a good beer.

On tap @ Sea World San Diego (Pineapple Peteís, next to the bay of play). Iím glad Sea World has decided to carry more than just the basic Bud/Bud Light crap. This one pours red, one finger head. Aroma is mainly sweet malts, light floral hops detectable even when competing with the aroma of the acrylic glass they gave me. Body is medium-full, flavor follows aroma with a hint of raisin thrown in just for fun. Itís not bad...not spectacular, but not bad. Better than most anything else youíre likely to find at Sea World, at least!

About time I rated this San Diego classic. From bottle into regular pint glass. Pours an attractive, dark red-brown. Head is thinnish and dies in a minute, although Iím not confident that this glass is "beer clean." Aroma is doppelbock--hopless sweet malt. Flavor is pretty well-rounded (within sweet overall). This beer feels great on the tongue; palate is perfectly balanced. I think Iíve had this beer fresher before, so this rating might be higher on another review.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tap, LAX. Very light tan head; dark coppery brown color. Light malty sweetness in both aroma and flavor. Very caramel-driven in the taste with some light yeastiness that comes across bready. Medium body with medium carbonation. Finished slightly drier than expected with some mild mineral-like hops. Very boring.

Bottle from BevMo. Pours reddish brown with a thin tan head and a light treacle aroma. There is a modest caramel malt flavor with a hint of dark fruit and a dry slightly bitter finish.
