Nice full bodied brew that suprised me because of the hops. Noticeable higher IBUs- pours an attractive deep amber colour with a beige head. Aroma is faint, but taste is mildly hoppy with sweet undertones and a firm well balanced finish.

Had it at Karl Strauss La Jolla. I thought it was pretty decent, it was sort of sweet with a lingering taste of dates.

On tap for $8 at San Diego Airport. Served in a 20-ounce plastic cup. Poured a deep, dark mahogany-chestnut body with a frothy white head. Great looking. Caramel, sweet, bready, creamy English biscuit flavor. Finished smooth and full-bodied. A very nice beer.

Draught. Served ice cold in a frosted glass... Red-brown with small yellowish rim. Malts, and very little else, seen the temperature. Roasted malts, some bitterness with slight retronasal sweetness, which continues growing warming up, pastry flavours. Medium bodied at best. Horrible presentation for a beer that isn’t all that great to start with...

on tap at karl strauss in carlsbad. okay for an amber, shame this is one of their flagship beers because it’s nothing special. very fruity like their other beers, with hints of toffee and caramel.

Smells malty with a hint of caramel. This has a bit more hops from the start than the first three of the sampler. Some light caramel that sticks to the front of your gums. Decent stuff.

Had on tap at LAX airport. Pours amber with a creamy head. Smells of sweet malt, tootsie pop, and a little nutty. Taste is same, all malt, little hops, caramel. Just another beer.

Bottled and on tap on multiple occasions way back in the day. I used to consider this stuff baller amber ale in the good ol’ days when I was drinking Newcastles with jarspag on a weekend basis. Red-amber color with light white head and lacing and aromas are difficult to pick up. Mostly just some sugary malt notes and a crisp finish. Unsatisfying overall.

On-tap. Pours a dark amber color, off-white head, good lace. Smells light malty. Tastes of sweet malts and red fruits. Thin palate, crisp carbonation. Solid.
