The beer poured a brown color w/ orange highlights; thin lasting head and medium lasting lacing. The aroma had malt, and caramel, but it was thin. The flavor had a hint of chocolate and caramel, malts, and a hint of candy. The mouthfeel was lt to medium bodied, and creamy.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
very cremey, smooth, and quite malty. peanuts, toast... hops are slightly pronounced with floral and citrus notes. aroma of toffee, primarily. downfall is the prickly, yet crisp, but watery mouthfeel that seems to override the cremey palate. whatever, i liked it a lot. but i think having it at a hookah bar in downtown San Diego helped a lot...

Everyone says this is the best Karl Strauss has to offer. Its a decent beer. Good color, malty sweet with a lasting finish. Pretty thin, not remarkable. For a lighter beer, I think the Amber Lager is a much better alternative.

Had this beer brought to me from San Diego. Has a great rich red color with a mild head that doesn’t last very long. Has a sweet malty caramel kind of taste. Overall I thought it was a pretty good beer and will enjoy my 6-pack before it runs out.

Something about drinking amber ales in pints at "pubs" clicks with me. Had this one at the ESPN club in Anaheim. Dark amber, creamy palate with a nice malty taste. Some hops in finish, I detected little in the aroma department.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft at the Sheraton San Diego - Darkish amber in color. The beer may have been too cold, but it did not seem to have a strong/distinctive aroma. Not much going in the hop arena either. Decent maltiness. Not much going on here...

I Don’t know why but this drink reminds me a lot of sierra nevada...Which isn’t a bad thing Since I love sierra Nevada. I liked this drink Although I prefer Stone’s as far as Local beer goes.
