Draught. Served ice cold in a frosted glass... Red-brown with small yellowish rim. Malts, and very little else, seen the temperature. Roasted malts, some bitterness with slight retronasal sweetness, which continues growing warming up, pastry flavours. Medium bodied at best. Horrible presentation for a beer that isn’t all that great to start with...

BMan1113VR (7880) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JUN 17, 2008
On tap at Universal City location. Aroma of currants, some alcohol, a bit of caramel and maybe some smoke or scotch. Pours with an off-white head with some lacing over an amber body. Taste is of soggy malts. Its too fizzy and a bit harsh.

mcberko (7443) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 5, 2011
12 oz. bottle, pours a clear amber with a small beige head. Feint aroma of cereal malts, syrup and light caramel / toffee. Flavour of raisins and other such dried fruits, toffee / caramel, male syrup and some bready malts. Finished syrupy and fruity. Low-to-medium complexity. Easy to drink, but nothing extraordinary. Fine for what it is.

Ibrew2or3 (7158) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - NOV 2, 2006
On tap at Columbia Street brewery. Clear copper to red color with lasting off white head. Almost no aroma. Really tasty sweet malt flavor of caramel malts with some toffee notes. A bit of bitterness rounds out the flavor.

DuffMan (7138) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 28, 2008
On tap pretty much everywhere we went in San Diego, but this rating comes from our extensive sit-down at The Local. Clear copper brown, earthy caramel aroma. Sweet caramel flavour profile, mild bitterness with a tea-leaf finish.

Medium copper red color with minimal head. Sweet caramel malt body with decent palate, but a bland finish. Your standard "red ale".

Draft. Copper color with an off-white head. Light aroma - some malt. Malty flavor with some toffee and low fruitiness - plum/date. Fairly rich flavor.

Bottle. Pours a clear ruby tinged amber with a medium to large sized beige head. A touch of oxidized paper on the nose, sweet malt and a touch of a hoppy backbone. Medium bodied, very smooth. Lots of caramel and more oxidization, raisins and paper. Finishes a bit warm and boozy with more sweetness. Interesting.

Sampled by friends who brought it from US. An ok ale, ruby colour, medium head. Corn-flakes flavor, bitter finish.
