3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Location: On tap at the SD Airport, 1/9/10
Aroma: This beer has lots of caramel malts and bread on the nose
Appearance: Dark reddish color with a head that leaves a lot of lace
Flavor: Taste is mostly sweet caramel malts and mild bitterness in the finish
Palate: Medium bodied and pretty drinkable with a soft carbonation
This beer was alright, it helped me kill some time in an airport. Iíd drink it again, but I certainly wouldnít suggest going out of the way for it. The real impression I have recorded in my notes is that is has a big caramel malt feel.

3.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Buttery diacetyl smell. Clear copper, thin yellow head. Like the Karl Strauss Pin tail I sampled immediately before this one, the flavor of tea dominates. Perhaps my glass didnít get a good rinse. Clover and honey remains on the palate.

Draft, brewpub at LAX United terminal. Clear and dark amber-red with a small but lasting head. Sweet cereal and spice aroma. Flavor is toasted nut and spicy, tangy cereal grain. Light-medium body that is tingly and slightly dry. Pretty nice flavor.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught. Aug 2006, Karl Strauss near South Coast Plaza, CA. Color was a nice red/amber. Picked up some nice fruity and caramel aromas. Taste was more malty than fruity for me. Still somewhat sweet. Overall it was the best beer I had there.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Full amber appearance with a ring of head. Mild grain nose, stale hops, tannic notes. Simple caramelized grain flavor with some twangyness where the grains meet the stale hops. Falls flat.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
I shared this with Strykzone via Facebook Chat. It poured a reddish amber with a big off-white head and light lacing .Nose of dark ripe fruit. and lightly roasted malts Medium body. Mild carbonation. The flavor is caramel malts with little hops. Finish is dry. Seems like an amber to me, and not my favorite style.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from conference reception. It looks red. It has an unknown colored head. Probably white. Iím having to drink this out of the bottle like a fucking Neanderthal. Has a bit of caramel on the tongue. Finishes clean. The things we do for beer ticks.
