Pours a ruddy reddish orange with one finger of sandstone head. Herbal nose with lots of bready notes and malt dominance. Flavor is the same. Medium body and bitterness.

Location: On tap at the SD Airport, 1/9/10

Aroma: This beer has lots of caramel malts and bread on the nose
Appearance: Dark reddish color with a head that leaves a lot of lace
Flavor: Taste is mostly sweet caramel malts and mild bitterness in the finish
Palate: Medium bodied and pretty drinkable with a soft carbonation
Overall Impression: This beer was alright, it helped me kill some time in an airport. I’d drink it again, but I certainly wouldn’t suggest going out of the way for it. The real impression I have recorded in my notes is that is has a big caramel malt feel.

BlackHaddock (4038) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAR 16, 2014
Three 12 oz bottles after a day in the sun on 15th March 2014. Pours an amber red colour with non-staying head. Caramel malty sweetness dominate the brew in both the aroma and taste. My sweet tooth took to it straight away, hence three bottles from the six pack in one go. A little one dimensional maybe but I liked it.

Buttery diacetyl smell. Clear copper, thin yellow head. Like the Karl Strauss Pin tail I sampled immediately before this one, the flavor of tea dominates. Perhaps my glass didn’t get a good rinse. Clover and honey remains on the palate.

Draught at Karl Strauss/Old Columbia Grill, San Diego. Nice looking red beer. No real head or lacing. Raspberry aroma - always a winner with me. Very clean and smooth thru the palate, syruppy in fact. Some concealed forest fruits flavouring and general juicy base. Nice stuff - one of the best Karl Strauss beers tried.

Draft at Disney’s California Adventure; Nose of roasty caramel and faint hops; brown with a small beige head; flavor is toffee, caramel malt, with a molasses note, with a very light hop finish. A lot better than the Strauss Endless Summer Light I tried after it!

22 ounce bottle from JohnCoctosin, poured a red copper color, can’t really describe the beer better than its description. For once a description is on par to the actual beer, good in summer heat.

On tap at San Diego Airport bar. Pours a clear copper with a small white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is raisin malt and toffee. Medium mouthfeel with a rich malt and caramel. Easy to drink a very good Irish ale from Karl Strauss.

Draft, brewpub at LAX United terminal. Clear and dark amber-red with a small but lasting head. Sweet cereal and spice aroma. Flavor is toasted nut and spicy, tangy cereal grain. Light-medium body that is tingly and slightly dry. Pretty nice flavor.
