Good copper red color. Very fragrant toasty malt nose with some Italian herbs mixed in. Big creamy sweet malt flavor with some decent hops bitterness in the after taste. This is a nice brew. I’m impressed...

Dark amber rose--nice looking, small to medium tan head, rich tasting, almost musty "thick;" reminiscent of Christmas ale (julebrygg). Would be great with some grilled food, cozy next to a firepit--definitely for ale beer lovers! [Like the packaging too!]

Don’t mind an Irish style red ale, and this is a pretty good example of the style. It pours a deep russet red with a fairly tight beige head. Carbonation is lively which lifts the beer. Caramel and malt drive the taste, with a light, flowery overlay of hops. There’s a light flavour of wheat at the back end. Overall, a very acceptable red / amber ale.

Bottle. Pours a Bronze-Red colour.
Aroma’s of mainly caramel and sultana’s.
Taste. Definitely can taste the Caramel as others have stated, but also notice Black liquorice flavours along with a slight currant flavour, almost no hop flavours but it does finish with a slight bitterness.
Palate. This is quite thick and a little syrupy in the mouth.
Overall. This is a beer that delivers a nice sweetness, yet isn’t too sweet and has no off flavours.
This beer would be very good with sticky date pudding and other desserts.

Taster at La Jolla location. Pours a clear deep amber colour with a small tan head. Aroma is largely of caramel malts, with a slight hoppy backbone. Taste is sweet up front with a nice bold bitterness through the finish. Medium bodied, creamy mouth feel, and softer carbonation. Overall this was my favourite of the Karl Strauss brews I tried.

tap. Amber with small head. Very nice red ale. Smooth with quite a bit of flavor. One of the best reds I’ve had.

Bij de clam chowder uit plastic glas of fles. Ruikt zoet. Rodige kleur, prima schuim. Prima smaak, lekker fris fruitig.

Nice drop. Had several times in the last two weeks, must say I like it less each time - not sure why. Perhaps the batch was on it’s last legs by the time it got to Australia. The foam on the first few were reasonable and held OK, but the one last night hardly formed and didn’t hold.
Nice reddish brown colour - tastes of caramel and malt.
Length of palate is medium, longer than a larger - shorter than other dark ales.
Overall happy, but will look for another Irish Red Ale to become a regular other than this one.

Sampled at the Blarney Stone in Clairmont. A very nice amber ale that is packed full of hoppy and malty goodness. Really blows a lot of amber brews out of the water. Appearance is a nice dark red and flavor is smooth and hoppy. A quality brew.
