As with most beers it is better on tap, this one suffers a bit much in the bottle. great red color. the flavor is very well balacened so that a taster can focus on either the hops or the malt and then the various subflavors involved with each.

I would like to add to Dogbrick's comments... Micah managed to STEAL a Red Trolley glass from the Uva Cafe. Who steals from Disneyland, the happiest place on earth? I'm so ashamed! Anyhow, this was quite good, certainly above average.

very cremey, smooth, and quite malty. peanuts, toast... hops are slightly pronounced with floral and citrus notes. aroma of toffee, primarily. downfall is the prickly, yet crisp, but watery mouthfeel that seems to override the cremey palate. whatever, i liked it a lot. but i think having it at a hookah bar in downtown San Diego helped a lot...

I like this beer. Itís pretty to look at, smellís great, and is very flavorful, especially considering Iíve only had it from a bottle. Itís got a bit of sweetness to it with a bitter finish. Very smooth going down considering the amount of carbonation. My aunt lives right next to the brewery, so I should go try it from tap there.

Draught. Aug 2006, Karl Strauss near South Coast Plaza, CA. Color was a nice red/amber. Picked up some nice fruity and caramel aromas. Taste was more malty than fruity for me. Still somewhat sweet. Overall it was the best beer I had there.

Draft, brewpub at LAX United terminal. Clear and dark amber-red with a small but lasting head. Sweet cereal and spice aroma. Flavor is toasted nut and spicy, tangy cereal grain. Light-medium body that is tingly and slightly dry. Pretty nice flavor.

I had this for the first time in San Diego. I am not usually a fan of ale, but this immediately caught my attention. The first taste reminded me of a stout with a burned, warm flavor, but with a very clean finish. I wish they sold this one in PA.

Tap at La Jolla location. Deep amber/copper colour. Toasted nutty aroma with a soft estery berry fruitiness. Flavour is quite well-balanced. Light fruit and soft sweet maltiness. A light toastiness and a softly fruity finish. Pretty nice session ale really. Good balance and much better than I ever expected.

On tap at the Chili’s in Torrance, CA. Aroma has a hint of malt, not much hops in there. Amber red with a small tan beige head. Smooth malt flavor with a slight hint of chocolate in there. Caramely and a little sweet. Easy drinking and dry in the finish. Well made and no real flaws. Could be a little more assertive.

This red ale has great flavor, with a slight sweetness to it. It is a fuller body beer with a toasted malt flavor to it. I really enjoy the smooth finish. Had this with some bbq chicken and it was delicious!
