SD trip, Karl Strauss LaJolla, sampler, had these while having a larger DIPA, flavors and ratings may be rough: Reddish brown; weak nose and even weaker flavor, really bland.

No head as it pours from the bottle, indicated low carbonation. Lacks any bouquet but the Amber hue was different and its caramelized hop flavour flowed through nicely. Much like drinking pop corn. I’d like to try this again, pulled off a tap though.

Pours rich amber with low level carbonation and a thin head. Hints of toffee and roasted crystal malt. Flavours of caramelized toffee and bready malts dominate proceedings here with some low level ester. Very easy drinking.

Bottle. Deep red brown pour, dissipating off-white head. Malty, watery, something almost metallic in the aftertaste. Not much on the nose, however. Medium (barely) body. It’s okay.

Nice drinkable beer, Nothing special to be fair. But enjoyable and easy to drink. Nice sweet malts though a little watey. Expected something a little more.

Bottled. Malty caramel nose, earthy, chocolate. Nice malt flavor, chocolate and caramel, very rich and rounded with fruit and a good level of sweetness. Bready. Nice and drinkable.

Strykzone (3135) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - MAY 3, 2012
Received in a trade from Hayduke. We shared a bottle via facebook chat. This beer was clear and coppery with a nice head. A rich malty nose that says Irish. A big malty flavor profile that is also grassy and swampy. Light fruit and nuts. Alcohol is also tasted and should not be. Some Graham crackers. Almost no carbonation. Nothing exciting here in a style that is rarely great.

Reddish amber. Nutty aromatics. Medium bodied, straightforward red ale. Nutty malts, but somewhat thin. Could use more hops to create some complexity. Medium finish.

copper color, aroma of caramel, roasted nuts, flavor of roasted nuts, roasted caramel, some dark fruits, bread, toast, not bad for the style

Bottle. Transparent amber pour. Big tan head that recedes to half an inch. Aroma is a ton of caramel malt. Taste is caramel malt, a little alcohol, and some sourness. Medium body and carbonation.

This isn’t a bad trolley to be hit with, as it’s light enough to keep from squashing you flat. It tastes pretty good also, unlike that time when I was a kid and it was freezing outside and my brother told me the trolley pole tasted like caramel. At least I can taste the caramel in this one.
