karl strauss brewing co. makes some really goood beers, especially at the brewery... red trolley ale pours a dark amber/kinda red body with a small foamy head. hint of caramel in it’s taste and a good finish.

Looks good and is smooth, but doesn’t strike me as a good red. I can’t detect it on the nose or tongue. It should have a,little bite, but this thing is too caramel right through. One pint pour.

Pours red, bit of foam. Taste is malty. Smooth and a bit caramel-sweet. Simple, not hoppy, sessionable. Red ale. Bit too much caramel for me though.

65 cl bottle.
Pours clear amber color with a large head. Nutty, malty aroma, faint dried fruits, some hops and resin. Flavor is also quite nutty and malty, biscuit notes, dried apricot and resinous hops. Sweet and dry palate. Decent.

Pours a clear ruby Amber with minimal tan head. Aroma is round sweet citrus. Flavor is slightly bitter and slightly sour but mostly sweet with some tangerine and berry character. There is a slight funk on the backside but doesn't detract too much. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Yeah okay. Head disappears in seconds, but does impress with quite delicious dark crystal malts; plums, raisins. Very malt driven, quite sweet. Hopheads will be unhappy. Strange tart yeasty finish though which sort of ruins the experience. By the of the six pack it tastes like VB. Strange but true.

Draft. Pours mostly clear red with off white head. Nose and taste is sweet caramel. Sweet aftertaste.

Red pour from draft at open bar in San diego. White sticky head. Malty fruity aroma. Earthy and cherry taste. Dry. Interesting. Better than I thought.

Pours a clear dark copper with a diminishing tan head. Caramel on the nose. Starts with a caramel taste but finishes with an odd yeasty flavour.

Nice drop. Had several times in the last two weeks, must say I like it less each time - not sure why. Perhaps the batch was on it’s last legs by the time it got to Australia. The foam on the first few were reasonable and held OK, but the one last night hardly formed and didn’t hold. Nice reddish brown colour - tastes of caramel and malt. Length of palate is medium, longer than a larger - shorter than other dark ales. Overall happy, but will look for another Irish Red Ale to become a regular other than this one.
