WeeHeavySD (1637), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Apr 21, 2008 10th rating of this brew. Tap @ Porter’s Pub UCSD. I have to say I am not a fan. Pours orange with an off white ring. Nose had a weird up front spice and strange overall aroma. Taste is aggressively spiced on the front end with Citrus on the back end. Also there is a boozy taste which doesn’t make sense to me. I like dry saisons and this was a mess, the citrus was too big and it was far too agressive.
fordest (1684), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Apr 30, 2008 Draft at the new Brew House at Eastlake. Lots of spicy banana and bubble gum aromas. Almost seemed very Hefe driven. Flavors were similar with more emphasis on the bubble gum and spices. Hints of floral arrangements in the background with a grassy finish. Pretty good actually. riversideAK (1503), Shoreline, Washington, USA Apr 4, 2008 Light copper/orange color. Very nicely spiced with black pepper and some grass. Some sweet fruity notes too. Orange, clove, pale bready malts. Nice spicy finish. A nice Strauss beer. dwyerpg (2003), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Apr 3, 2008 Fairly spicy aroma for a saison. Flavor also is a bit on the agressive side, with some nice spices and hops. The quick bite disappears quickly. An excellent beer. gotbeach (109), San Diego, California, USA Mar 28, 2008 On tap at Karls Sorrento V. Pours cloudy amber with a decent white head. Smells barnyard, but has a nice sweet and smooth fruity flavor with a slightly flat end.
